One of the best sandwich places I've been! The hot sandwiches in Dutch Crunch bread is like nothing else in the area. I almost always get the Hot T: Turkey, cranberry, Baja sauce, and it's terrific. It's really great, but make sure to get it on Dutch bread, makes the sandwich!

I found this little gem near my work. Laid back atmosphere, friendly staff, sandwiches made quickly and lots off good options. I will be going back for sure!

Their Dutch crunch bread is amazing. I can't describe it as it wouldn't do it justice. I'd go behind the counter and pick up the crumbs as it is very good. I ordered the Italian on Dutch crunch (you MUST get Dutch crunch!). The meat was so-so (some of the meat tasted like it was thawed) but the bread and the toppings definitely made up for it and enough to warrant a 4-star review. And I know the other sandwiches are good, just that I won't be ordering the Italian again. Also, the sandwich comes with a cookie. That's kind of random but it was a delicious chocolate chip cookie. And for fatasses like myself, the cookie is not a big one, so I didn't feel to guilty devouring it.

Great selection of sandwiches! I had the "Hang Loose" and it was very good flavor and a combination of flavors I wouldn't normally try. My son got the PB kids meal which he loved too! The only thing I didn't like seeing is the the employee wiped the knife off on what looked to be a cleaning rag. I'm not a germ phobe person, but we all know kitchen rags and sponges harbor a lot of bacteria. All and All we lived and the sandwiches were good! Just might like to see a new knife being used or at least wiped off with a paper towel.

No thrills but consistently good and I felt this place was deserving of their yelp reviews . They were busy yet I didn't really even wait that long. Ladies weren't messing around on my lunch time and I appreciate that cause I'm a H-angry girl! They have sand which options or you can build your own. I opted for a custom lunch cause I'm picky. One wouldn't think a turkey sandwich is hard to get right, right? Wrong! Where there's a will there's a way and I've had several places jack up my sandwich. Major disappointment. No disappointments here except for the burnt chocolate chip cookie. But hey it's free and you can't really complain about free cause well it's free! I still ate it too ha ha! In conclusion, I'd come here again and say it's a great every day lunch place when you're on a lunch break or just want a sandwich!

Dutch Crunch. Dutch Crunch. Dutch Crunch. Dutch Crunch. That's all you need to really know about this place. If you're coming here to try anything, you MUST try the dutch crunch bread. Back in school, all my friends from SF raved about dutch crunch and its amazingness. When I went to SF I experienced the magic of dutch crunch and now here in Lake Forest, you can experience the magic too. All sandwiches come with a free cookie. I didn't think the cookie was as good as it would be, but it was surprisingly warm and gooey. Overall the sandwiches are all pretty good and the staff is generally friendly. The sandwiches can come out to be a bit pricey ~$8 per sandwich + more if you want a drink and chips. The old bad side about this place is they have no fountain drink machine so I'm not sure if they do offer free water. And if they do...it might just literally be sink water. Also parking kind of stinks.

I'm not a sandwich guy. Way too many carbs. For me, give me that awesome protein and fat, wrap it in some lettuce, and I'm a happy guy. However, if I'm gonna eat a sandwich, it better go hard. Like club going up on a Tuesday kind of hard. Mr. Pickle's Dutch Crunch bread goes hard. So hard you better visit the dentist to get your teeth fixed hard. Bite into it with insane levels of satisfaction. Like a frito worked out, got buff, then fell into your mouth and you crunched it into oblivion. I had to get the protein packed Double D. Pulled pork, bacon, avocado, BBQ sauce, frito dust. It was delicious. Don't go to Subway. Don't go to Jimmy Johns. Go to Mr. Pickle's, get some pickles, get the free chocolate chip cookie that comes with your meal, pick a sandwich, and crunch the hell out of it.

Okay, I don't think the pastrami at this place is *better* than The Hat, per several other Yelp reviews. Sure, it's different and has a different flavor but it's lunch meat pastrami. The pastrami from The Hat is just a different preparation. I can see how some people perhaps may not be used to it or enjoy it if they're used to eating lunch meat pastrami. Nothing wrong with either or, but I'm not going to say one is better than the other. I ordered the #18 (Got Beef) but substituted swiss and went pretty barebones on sauce only opting for the garlic sauce. Got it on the dutch crunch as everyone has raved about. The bread is definitely good, and yes, if you are concerned about scraping the roof of your mouth (like at Lee's) it might be good to eat it upside down or just be mindful in general. The bread definitely doesn't maintain its crunch after a while though so make sure you take a few bites if you're getting it to go or to eat later. I couldn't taste the garlic sauce at all, so that was disappointing. Otherwise, it was a pretty basic sandwich. My wife ordered a turkey sandwich and wasn't too impressed either. I think the bread is the best thing going for them. Considering that we spend $17 for two sandwiches, and granted, we only ate half (but we weren't super hungry going in), I'm not sure if I would want to come back. It's certainly not something on my crave list.

Since I moved and started my new job in Orange County, I have a fresh new area to start Yelping. I am looking for a couple quick spots to grab lunch in the Irvine area. I am looking for sandwich shops since I only have an hour to spare for lunch. With the help of Yelp, I found a place with a very unique name. Time to grab a bite at Mr. Pickle's Sandwich Shop in Lake Forest. You'll find on the corner of Rockfield Blvd and Centre Dr. on the east side of the I-5 Freeway next to the Forest Lanes Bowling Lanes. The lot that Mr. Pickles is located in is very small and customers like myself parked next door due the bowling alley's large parking space. When you walk up to the store, don't expect it to be anything fancy. Just pretend its like all the other competitors typical store design. However, do expect that the lines to be at the door. I guess Mr. Pickle is a catchy name and will intrigue guests to come in. As I mentioned, the line was at the door. It was a good thing I got out of the office a little late because the dining area was filled other people taking their lunch breaks as well. I heard a couple of the other customers mention that they were glad to come in early to get a table. The setup is very simple. Order in one area and pay at the end. You have a very descriptive menu with all the sandwiches with special names. They may want to name a sandwich after me one day if I frequent this location. There are specials of the day on their chalkboard. You can order salads to sandwiches. With me starting my new job and, of course, with the Holiday Season upon us, I had to get back on my diet and eat healthy. I saw the Vegetarian Sandwich ($7.99) and definitely caught my attention. The Vegetarian Sandwich has Red Pepper Hummus, Cucumbers, your choice of cheese (I chose American), and avocado (Opted Out) with my choice of wheat bread. As they were making my sandwich more people came in and I knew I came in the right time. Tables freed up and I was happy to get a table. I paid at the cashier and it was close to $10 including the water bottle. The cashier gave me a cookie as well. What?! A COOKIE?! So, that's what the other Yelpers were mentioning about. I sat down at my table and the order took about three minutes since mine didn't require to be in an oven. By the way, the oven is like a microwave. Not sure whats up with the use of microwaves at sandwich shops. The sandwich artist delivered my sandwich to my table and it was time to enjoy Vegetarian sandwich. My expectations for the sandwich were not low nor were they high. The expectation was were its supposed to be: standard. The flavor of the sandwich mainly came from the American cheese followed by the hummus. Everything else had no taste, but my sandwich did fall apart on a couple of occasions. It was OK, but not great and not bad at all. However, to end my meal, I enjoyed the free chocolate chip cookie. That alone has considered me on going back for my future lunches. If you work around the area and not looking for fast food, I would suggest stopping by. I am sure that the other sandwich favorites taste better since there is meat in them. I will try another time with a chicken sub sandwich. I wonder how the name Mr. Pickle's came to be. If the cookie was substituted with the pickle, I would understand. Since, they give out cookies, it could be called, Mr. Cookies, but then people would be coming by to place dessert orders. You think I write too much? Well, you can call me a Yelp-O-Holic!

It was ok. The marble rye was really good and I noticed on their menu that they make their bread fresh every day so that's a plus. I had the Mr. Pickle Sandwich which was with grilled chicken - the chicken was plain and on the fatty side so I wasn't impressed. Also, each sandwich comes with a chocolate chip cookie which was just ok too. I've had much better chocolate chip cookies. I'd maybe go back again but not order a sandwich with chicken.

This place is great! The names of the sandwiches are fun to read. For $2 dollars more you get a chunky sandwich with a cookie rather than going to crappy subway.

Fresh everything! Dutch bread is bomb! Just the right amount of flavor! Clean and friendly! Give it a try.

Wish I had discovered this place sooner. Actually, I'm glad I didn't because my clothes wouldn't fit anymore. Also glad it's not right next to work otherwise I'd be there for lunch more often. It's been said before but I'll say it again, the Dutch Crunch bread is the cat's pajamas, especially with the Double D, a delicious monster of a sandwich. Also love the fact that they put chips in the sandwich (comes with some sandwiches, but can be added upon request).

  • Robbie G.

Went here for lunch with my coworkers, and tried the "Pickle Burger" on Dutch bread. All sandwiches come with a chocolate chip cookie, and I added on chips and a small can of soda. It was a little pricey at over $12, but I suppose a big part of that is the general pricey-ness of living in southern California. The guy who made my sandwich was friendly. Overall the food was good. Seating options were extremely limited. Not the best I've had, but certainly not the worst. I give it a solid 4 stars.

  • Erin L.

I've been obsessed with mr. Pickles ever since my sister introduced me to them up in SF. the Dutch crunch bread will scratch up the roof of your mouth... But it okay because it's THAT good! If you're a fan of tuna, get the "Tuna Tuna" with everything. It's life changing.

    (5)
  • Mark V.

When you want a good sandwich or don't feel like getting some boring creation from Subway, come here. Little bit more money, but certainly worth it. I usually get the Mr. Pickles sandwich (minus avocado) and I'm always happy. Do wish they had a fountain soda machine - everything is in a can or bottle. There is a reason it is mentioned in nearly every review: get the Dutch bread.

Came here for lunch one busy afternoon with the hubby. I had seen my friends frequent another location in north OC so I figured we should check it out. Dutch crunch bread is amazing. Service was nice but a little slow. Even on a weekday it seemed pretty busy since the local businesses were coming in for lunch. Small parking lot. Not a lot of seating. But, the sandwiches are pretty damn good.

this establishment feels like a mom and pop sandwich shop. It was my first time today and I ordered the tuna tuna on Dutch bread with everything. I love tuna in general but this sandwich was so good. The tuna was overwhelmed with mayo and had just enough toppings to compliment each other. If you're not a big eater, order one and share with someone. The portions are huge and they give you a free cookie which is always winning. My bf got the kickin chicken and there was plenty of meat and the hot sauce had just enough kick. Overall a really good experience. I will be going back for sure.

Love love love Mr. Pickles!!! Best sandwiches ever. Please open a Mr. Pickles in Irvine (Culver Plaza - Culver & Irvine Center Dr.) :)

I love this place, I used the online order and it was ready when I got there. And a free cookie comes with the sandwhich. I got a double D spinach wrap with bacon, pepper jack cheese and avocado.

BBQ pulled pork (off the menu) & pastrami with cream cheese. Both on Dutch crunch bread with everything on them. Best sandwich we've had in a long time. Definitely my new favorite local sandwich place. The service isn't always top notch and decor isn't all fancy or anything. But the sandwich is worth every penny. Most sandwiches run about $7.99 but a few special ones run $8.99. Parking lot is small and I believe $5minimum for credit card. You get a free cookie with each sandwich as well. Wish this place would stay open later than 4pm.

Summary: this place gave myself and a co-worker salmonella and I feel the staff could care less. I've eaten at Mr. Pickle a few times and normally found it to be a pleasant experience, the food is decent and staff friendly. A couple days ago I had a sandwich with chicken in it and was content. This morning at 3 AM, 2 days later, I wake up to severe nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. I cooked chicken last night (6 hours prior to this experience) and thought somehow my normal routine went askew and I contracted something from my chicken... Which Ive been making several times a week for years. I hear a co-worker who ate the same sandwich as me called in sick as I did today on the same day. I conferred with him the symptoms he was experiencing and realized Mr. Pickle chicken was the culprit in making us both extremely sick. Severe lower back pain, vomiting, vomiting water, headache, diarrhea... The list goes on. I'm writing this review because I called the staff and asked to talk to the manager. The response was the manager wasn't there at the time, so I asked for the managers contact info. I didn't want anyone else to experience this pain that myself and co-worker are currently experiencing. The guy I talked to didn't seem to care in the slightest, told me to call back the next day. I told him you have to deal with this issue of getting customers sick. He asked me if I was from some company which I'm not, I assume he had been getting complaints from them about this issue. My experience was bad and there was no empathy from the staff, who should be trained to handle this dangerous situation. People can DIE from salmonella.

I was perhaps too harsh with my last review, maybe it was just a bad day. Been there twice recently and the service was great, and the sandwiches were amazing. This place has five-star sandwiches if you get the dutch bread. Keeping the review at 4 stars because they have terrible hours (it would be nice to be able to have Mr. Pickles for dinner occasionally...) and still don't offer any sort of reward program / discount card after buying x sandwiches. It's 2015 guys, give out a stamp card, or *something.*

  • Tim P.

Mr. Pickles did not tickle my pickle. The mark of a mediocre sandwich joint for me is when I think to myself: "I wish I just went to Subway". I had high hopes from the stellar yelp reviews, but ultimately found the sandwich to be uninspired. My had the Hot T--wouldn't do the Dutch crunch bread next time since it's too crunchy it's hard to eat.

Disappointed with today's wrap selection. Got the veggie in a regular wrap and I actually had to open the thing up to see if there was hummus inside. If you are asked "do you want everything on it," you would think that if the answer was "no" the wrap would mainly consist of hummus, cheese, cucumber and avocado...No, that is not the case. If it's a veggie sandwich I'd think that the hummus was the "meat" of the sandwich so at least a good serving of it is expected. Instead what I found was a smear of it on one side of the wrap. Less than the amount of mayo they would put in a sandwich. For that, I downgraded my rating to 4 stars. I still like this place but their veggie wrap sucked!

We've been searching for a long time for a sandwich place that has hot sandwiches, other that the usual, hot roast beef, hot pastrami, etc,,, This is THAT place!! The meats are top quality and the bread, especially the Dutch Crunch are so fresh and delicious. The sandwiches are large and the price is NOT!! They have 10 hot sandwiches, in 2 days we've had 4 of them, 6 more to go and we can't wait!! The crew is very nice and welcoming. Beware, after 12:00 there's a line out the door. Only down side, no Coke products

  • Ali S.

They have real Dutch crunch bread, which is popular in the Bay area but I haven't found a sandwich shop to have it in OC. The bread was fresh and crunchy, but it will cut your mouth. The ingredients are quality and tasty. Its a very good lunch spot and it gets busy around noontime.

  • Julie Y.

I had the ham and Swiss sandwich with the Dutch crunch bread. It was delicious! The staff was friendly. Plus, you get free cookie with your meal. It's a nice touch that you rarely see at comparable places. I'll be back!

1.5 Stars (round to 2 Stars) This place is in an unassuming strip mall with very little parking. (As you may find out during the rush times) When you go into the place three things came to mind...don't care much about the decor or ambient conditions. Where's the free Asian market calendar hanging? And what letter grade is this place? I've been here 3 times, at 3 different times of the day, eating 3 different sandwiches...so... now I can make a proper assessment of this "sammie" (sandwich) place. Last time I was there was Aug. '14. The reason I voice how many times I went is because this is the only place where I got a few Yelp messages by Mr. Pickle's enthusiasts from my Yelp Tips. Who knew Mr. Pickle's minion were so touchy feely:P Let's start with the service. When the female management is present and in the front, then the service is much better. The last time I was there the Redhead guy was pleasant, productive, and overall one of the better employees. But the unmanaged tail end shift of the day suffers in service and product. RUBENS: Marble bread is just ok, needs to be lightly toasted to hold up better. The sandwich as a whole is about a Quizno level with a higher price tag. (And my rating bar is based off of NYC and US cities that make it from scratch.) Would I buy again??? NO. Hot "T" #7 on Dutch Crumb Roll: Not bad because of the bread. The roll's thickness, as some of the prior complaints, was just right. If too thick of bread then it would be too much filler. The heated meat was edible, however the tomatoes and sauce on the bottom makes the bread soggy. Would I buy again??? NO. Double D on Dutch Crumb Roll: A decent tasting sandwich. Everything works well together with this pork & crunched chip duos. Just have it with a light sauce and condiments so it's not overwhelming and your bread doesn't go soggy. Would I buy it again??? Eh...maybe. Overall, I have to say will I be back? Not likely since there's so many other places to eat that I rather spend my money as well as time at. Oh, and if you're going to call yourself Mr Pickle's then give a free deli pickle not your below average cookie. The last two visits I told them to keep the cookie. Maybe it might be better to just use your cookie funds to decorate the place.

Ordered online and called the shop to cancel my order immediately after placing my order and they told me they couldn't cancel my order and give my money back. I was forced to call my credit card company. Found a different sandwich shop to continue going to.

Dutch bread, yes...this place is amazingly delicious! Better than any sandwich shop you'll find. They do get busy during their lunch hour but they work as fast as they can. Their pastrami is better than the hat. What? Yeah, I said it but it is. Check it out if you're in the area.

My gf and I found this place today and decided to give it a try...SO GLAD WE DID! I had the Mr. Reggie and she had the Toms Turkey, we were both very impressed at how fresh and amazing our sandwiches were. I will definitely be going back

    (5)
  • Adam P.

There is no doubt this is a good sandwhich shop, the reason for the 3 star review is simply the pricing. I'm sorry but I am not going to spend $12 on a club sandwhich, that's absurd!!

With so many options for lunch in the area I've passed Mr. Pickles up on so many occasions... And after today I now know I've been missing out! My wife and I came in right before the lunch rush so seating wasn't an issue. Near the end of our sandwiches we noticed that it did fill up, so if you don't beat the rush it may be hard to find a spot to sit. Being a huge turkey fan I ordered the Tom Turkey off the menu. The basic premise for this sandwich is turkey, bacon and swiss cheese. From there they add mayonnaise, mustard, garlic sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, onions and pickles but don't worry, you can modify this anyway you choose to. I held off on the peppers, and mustard but I think it was a mistake. I felt that my sandwich was slightly off and that the mustard would have put it dead on. I definitely recommend anyone coming in for a sandwich. If you're looking for a deli style sandwich this could be your place. Im going to keep this place on the rotation and come back often.

  • Sean K.

Mr. Pickles' take on sandwiches is pretty good: choice variety of veggies, condiments, meats, and so on that are tucked with care into a medium-to-large bagette of your choosing. Lunch special comes with a free chocolate chip cookie. I've had about 4 of the many sandwiches they offer, and they were all pretty tasty. The quality is much better than subway or quiznos, and I think much of that quality lies in the bread. That being said, however, you get what you pay for, with most of their sandwiches hanging out around $8-9. So you're looking at around $10 out the door. Dine-in environment could be better, but they're limited on space. Get there around 11AM to avoid the lunch rush.

Not just was there a bug in my sandwich, I wasn't refunded & the staff was very rude.

Sometimes we'll mix it up at work and order from Mr. Pickle's when we're hankerin' for a sandwich. Called in and placed an order for 10 sandwiches and asked for them to be ready in 15ish and they obliged! All sandwiches were correct (which is a rarity since we all had modifications of things we did not want)! My go-to is the #20 Big Jake (turkey, avocado, and cream cheese) because a combination like that cannot be bad! The Dutch Crunch bread is something you need to try here because I've never seen this type of bread anywhere else. It has a nice crunch/crust layer on the top of the bread that is sweet. [like what streusel does for baked goods except less sweet.] But today, I forewent the Dutch Crunch and decided to make it a wrap on the spinach tortilla-- *pats myself on the back for brilliant self-restraint* and it was still delicious! I also love that Mr. Pickle's has a GARLIC SAUCE, it adds a nice dimension to the sandwich that enhances it from being a normal sandwich. They don't skimp on the fillings either! My reason it's lacking a star is because it's kind of expensive for a sandwich (~$8)... Also wish it was open a little later so it could be a dinner option.

when i was at uci, i would see mr pickles every time i went to albatross for drunchies. sadly, since i went after night of drinking, it was always closed. one night, i got curious to what food they serve, also the name stood out to me. so i yelped it! and I'm glad i did. it had really good reviews and there was even one in sf! it doesn't matter what sandwich you're getting, please please PLEASE get the DUTCH CRUNCH. i love this bread. it does cut up the top of your mouth a little bit due to the hard surface, but its so good and worth it! and its a bit sweet too! i got the Hot T sandwich and i loved the thanksgiving taste: hot turkey with cranberry sauce. and little bit of spicy kick with the pepper jack. they give you so much ingredients, I'm surprised the sandwiches even stay lol. will definitely be back to try their other sandwiches: hang loose, reggie-reggie, l'michele!

Ordered the #13 Mr. Pickles...soooo goood!! And they give you a cookie with your sandwich. Definitely coming back to try the dutch bread.

Small place with a skeleton staff......A little run down I would say.... Sandwiches are decent size,,,,,, I got the Veggie.....very little avo...1 Tomato......sparse lettuce.... The Rolls are hearty...so its more of a bread sandwich..... The girl behind the counter made larger sandwiches than the guy...I asked for more lettuce and Tomato & she happily got them.... They bake the bread & cookies there, so that's a nice touch.... So $20.00 for 2 Sandies...chips & a water... Food is good....Seems there was a lack of management there...... No Soda fountain, no condiment area.....just a bit odd!!!

1 for 1. Wanted a sandwich for lunch today and remember seeing good yelps about Mr. Pickle and then while leaving work I saw a dorky kid in a pickle outfit with a Mr. Pickle sign. Done. I order the "Mr. Pickle" sandwich - chicken breast, bacon, jack and avocado on the dutch crunch roll. Super fresh and tasted great. Also, when I walked in, the place smelled really good which doesn't hurt its appeal. The free cookie is a nice touch. Picked up a Tom Turkey for a buddy that couldn't get out of the office as well. A slight wait to place the order but it wasn't bad. Would definitely come here over Quiznos or Togos in the future.

Something drastic has changed at this location in Lake Forest, Ca (Off of Rockfield). A couple of months ago I noticed pictures were missing and the shop looked a little different. All the same familiar faces where there and my sandwich came out as delicious as I remembered. Unfortunately the last 2 times I gone to this shop I could not recognize anyone at this location. It seems like they got rid of every single employee that used to work for this location. The last 2 times I have gone my sandwich has been quite unimpressive. You can tell these replacement employee's have little to no care about the sandwiches they create anymore. They also seem to give off this vibe like their personal conversations seem to be more important than the customers standing in front of them. I believe at this point the owner has been changed and these complaints are side effects of this change. I personally will no longer rant and rave about this little sandwich shop anymore & will take my business elsewhere. Please be warned this place is not as good as it used to be. Take care Foodies. Sincerely, John B.

I use to love you,!!!!! Yeah what can I say about Mr. Pickles? If you wana to walk into a place packed full of EGOS then this is the place to go! News flash Fellas you work at a mediocre sandwich place! As far as the food you use to be Great!!! Now not so much. I live down the street and use to go all the time, now The Egos took over and the sandwiches are all right. -The Dutch Crunch or what ever its called is the "claim to fame" If you want the roof of your mouth destroyed then enjoy. All the other Breads are usually dry and to much bread to handle. A whole loaf. DRY!!!!!!! -The Meat !!!! Deli meat nothing to call home about. They do give generous portions though. Hell they better cause its just normal deli meat! The Chicken they use is frozen chicken from the freezer isle, and has absolutely ZERO taste!!!! MICROWAVE BACON please are you shitting me????? Not a shocker!!!! CHEAP!!! Their pulled pork!!!!! CRAP as well. The only thing that saves it is the loads of BBQ sauce. DISAPPOINTED!!!!! Nothing really more to say. Just a sandwich I can make in my kitchen. No big deal. Seriously I will not be going back. Not sure why everyone is giving it 5 stars. Let alone 4. Over priced and the meat and bread are ALL OVER RATED!!!! But enjoy wasting your money!!!!

Very good sandwiches! I recommend the BBQ Melt Chicken sandwich - it's excellent! The first time I went there (I've been there many times now), I ordered the Fast Eddy (lettuce, tomato, dijon mustard, everything, and Hot roast beef BBQ with melted cheddar on a wheat loaf ! ) and it was very good. I will definitely be going back often, and I recommend this place for lunch.

Mr. Pickle's Sandwich Shop is one of those rare places where the food is great, the service outstanding, and the prices are a value. Try the Hot Italian. It is phenomenal! I never thought a sandwich traditionally served cold would be so good served hot. The Dutch Crunch bread is my favorite. Excellent combination of texture and taste. You have got to try this place!

Some of the best sandwiches you can get anywhere! The Mr. Pickle is my favorite. Love that it is so different from your Subways, Quiznos and Jersey Mikes of the world. Sure it costs a couple dollars more, but you definitely get what you pay for.

Awesome sandwiches! Friendly guys working behind the counter! The City of Lake Forest won't let them wear a pickle suit to advertise! On that reason alone I plan on giving them tons of business! The City is being asinine by blocking a small business from prospering especially since this country is built on small businesses!!

I LOVE THIS PLACE. Free cookie with meal, really cool workers, AWESOME, fresh-baked bread, sandwiches of epic proportions, free-candy-jar, and a pickle mascot costume. What's not to love?

What are all these negative reviews about??? I suspect that some of them may be the competition. What else do you want in a sandwich shop? The bread is fresh and amazing, the staff take great care to make every sandwich perfect and it tastes great! Seriously, what else do you want. If you are on a budget go to Mcdonalds and hit up the dollar menu, if not take your 10 bucks over to Mr. Pickle and try something new. I don't get to travel to Irvine every week but when I'm here on business i always eat here when I can. Great Menu and amazing bread, keep it up!

It is not the best sandwich but it is fan good, fresh bread, decent meats, cheerfull staff that doesn't skimp on the ingredients, and prompt service. I had the tasty classic club, the bread was toasted just to the point were it doesn't rip up the roof of your mouth. Plenty of meat and just the right amount of sauces. Double stacked and thicker than a girl in a sir-mix-a-lot video! Yea you could go to subway for a $5 footlong but it just pales in comparison, the quality of the products are far better. I'd rather pay the extra 3.50 and be satisfied. This thing was huge and worth every penny!

Coworkers introduced me to this place last week. Here is my review Food: Possibly one of the best sandwich shops you will find in OC. I live in a relatively suburban area in my hometown so sandwich shops are popular there. I have been meaning to find a place like this for a while since I moved down here. Food is usually fresh and I have no complaints. Service: Workers there are pretty nice and attentive. Funny this about them is that they have this thing where if you tip them, the cashier announces it and they all cheer. Atmosphere: Place is relatively nice and clean. The only down side to this place is that it gets rather busy during lunch and you might need to wait a bit for food. Parking here also gets a big difficult because the lot is small and constricted.

Amazingly manly sandwiches! Only had the double d so far but am planning on coming back to try the rest! The guys that make the sandwiches are super cool too. =]

I have dreams about the sandwich I had. The dutch crunch bread is amazing!

walked in with 3 other adults and 4 kids in tow..... a little cozy! but we went ahead and ordered some sandwiches of various degrees of difficulty and the guys handled them with ease! and all with a smile and very courteous despite our last minute fumbling of what sides and drinks to order. I ordered the Mr. Pickles on sourdough sub roll.. fantastic! However, I looked longingly at my wife's sandwich on the dutch crunch bread... she said the bread was awesome... and didn't offer me a bite.. hmmm.. that means it was really good. the sourdough was no chump either tho. everyone else including the kids enjoyed their sandwiches also. and i'm a sucker for a chocolate chip cookie... which comes with EVERY sandwich. love it

I love sandwiches. It's hard to find a good sandwich places in Orange County. Mr. Pickle's is a good addition to the Lake Forest neighborhood. The speciality sandwiches are 7.50 + tax. It sounds pricey, but it's a lot of food in a sandwich. They have Dutch Crunch bread! The ingredients and meats are higher in quality than a Togo's. Thus, why it's a little more pricer than a Subway or a Togo's. I definitely recommend this place if you are out to get a good sandwich, but I know I can't afford to eat a sandwich there everyday.

I have never been a big fan of sandwiches until I had Mr. Pickle's. Now I rarely eat sandwiches anywhere else! Their Dutch Crunch bread is the way to go and I really enjoy their garlic sauce. The stamp card they offer is a big plus b/c you get a free sandwich after your 10th purchase. It can get quite busy during the lunch rush so it helps to call in your order ahead of time if you're in a rush.

So I tried the golden gate on dutch crunch. Sandwich was pretty good, and messy but not the best sandwich I've ever had. Still I will be going back as the service was super friendly and I love dutch bread which isn't very common at sandwich shops nowadays. I'd like to try their other sandwiches too they all look pretty good!

Why would someone ever choose subway or Quiznos when there is a mr. Pickles? Their sandwiches are awesome, their service is superb even when the line is a dozen deep. They work really hard in there!

This place is AWESOME. The sandwiches are to die for! Love the italian sandwiches and, well, there's really there's nothing I've tried that I didn't absolutely love. Just don't plan on saving the sandwich for later, they tend to get a bit soggy- but eaten right away they are delicious! The only reason for the four stars and not five is their lack of a soda machine. I also wish this place had later hours!

Best sandwich I've had in a long time. You must try it. The bread and the sandwich options make this place unique. Great layer of flavors.

Lunched with Monsieur Pickles today, and had the vulgarly-named Double D sammich. It was vulgar in its deliciousness. Highly recommended, and if it embarrasses you to ask for the item by name, you can point at the menu and blush.

What a great find! I wish I had known about this place a long time ago, wasted too many lunches on Subway, and now that seems so gross. Anyway the location is kind of wierd but not hard to get in and out which is important when you have limited lunchtime. whatever sandwich you order get it in Dutch Crunch Bread! but here is a tip on eating it wihtout tearing up the roof of your mouth, eat the sandwich upside down! the super nice ( and very pretty) girl working the counter gave me that tip after I mentioned how much I love the Dutch Crunch, but was scared to eat it again after the first experience. She was right! I get all the deliciousness of that crazy-good bread but none of the damage! MP is one of my top 5 lunch spots of all time.

One of my favorite places to grab a sandwich. The bread is the best here and is always fresh. If you can get there when they open all the bread is very warm and delicious. My personal favorite is the BBQ melt, the staff is so friendly and always let me experiment with my sandwiches. If you ever want to do something crazy ask them for suggestions. Overall I love this place because their bread is unique, food is delicious, and the staff is ALWAYS friendly!

When did this place pop up? It is a "pickle" fest. LOL. Only dudes work here. You walk in and the guys have some loud techno music or something with a big booming backbeat playing. They are all shouting and greet you with a loud "Welcome to Mr. Pickle's!" One guy with a wild curly Jewish Afro was bouncing up and down to the beat as he made a sandwich. The sandwich selection is pretty broad. I had the no. 11, BLAT, on sourdough roll, with a side of potato salad, and a vitaminwater. My bill came to $11.58. I threw in a $1.00 tip in the large tip jar, and the cashier yells, "WE GOT A TIP GUYS!!" Then they all shout out "WOO HOOOOOO!" There is a flat-screen hanging next to the door, and I swear, all of the customers to this joint are all dudes! Finally after awhile, a pair of elderly women came in, but the place looks like a men's club or something. This place is fun, and lively. I'll be back.

I forgot to mention that I find it kind of amusing and bit concerning that a place called "Mr. Pickles" doesn't give you a complimentary dill pickle with your sandwich.

They don't seem to understand that food allergies are serious. My better half went there earlier today, 9/16, and ordered a Turkey sandwich without avocado to go. She told them she was allergic to avocado and they acknowledged it, the guy even changed his gloves before making her sandwich. A few bites later and she was swelling up at her desk and getting a rash. It looked like there was some avocado mixed in with the lettuce somehow (we still have the sandwich in the fridge). She left work early and loaded up on benadryl, luckily the epipen wasn't needed. We called them to let them know what had happened and were told that the she never notified them. Never again. P.S. I tried submitting a comment on your website and it doesn't appear to be working and the Lake Forest store is not an option in your "Shop Location" selection.

It's a grooving place. However, they kept passing me by as though I were invisible. I tried to tell the guy behind the counter that I was next, and he ignored me. I patiently waited for my turn, and it happened again. I finally got the the guys attention by waving my arms in the air and yelling "I am next". I asked if I were invisible and walked out the door. They were more interested in the music playing then paying attention to what matters most. The customer!!! They Fail!!!

I discovered this place shortly after they opened about a year ago and I've been hooked ever since. They make the best sandwiches ever. Their breads are amazing and always fresh. You can't go wrong with anything on the "Dutch Crunch" or "marble rye". As for sandwiches my personal favorites are the B.L.A.T, Big Jake and pulled pork (best ate there) but everything is good depending on what you like. I highly recommend Mr.Pickles.

Great bread, tons of quality meat on their sandwiches, friendly/entertaining staff, and a free cookie with your sandwich... What more could you ask for in a sandwich place?!! My usual order- turkey bacon avocado provolone with mustard and all the veggies on dutch crunch bread. It is to die for! It's making me salivate just writing about it! If you are a turkey fan go get this sandwich, you will not regret it!

4.5 rounded up to a 5 star due mainly to quality to price ratio. I had seen Mr. Pickle's when coming to one of the food truck events at the Forest Lanes bowling alley right next to it. After hearing about them and looking for a sandwich joint on that day, I stopped by and ordered the Tom Turkey on a Dutch roll. The sandwich is pretty freaking good and the Dutch roll is pretty good as well. As a word of fair warning, the Dutch roll has like the exterior of the bread made into almost a crouton type consistency which makes the bread exterior kinda sharp. Not a big deal.. I will just put it out there. The sandwich as a whole is great and for the price, your definitely looking well under the $10 mark for a great meal.

A great sandwich shop, its tucked away on a small street, their dutch crunch bread makes for a very tasty sandwich.

Do you want the Reggie Jackson, or the Mr. October? So here's the skinny: Get the garlic spread on everything you order - subtle over the rest of the sandwich, but with big flavor (is that possible?). I had the Reggie-Reggie (not to be confused by the secret menu item the "Mr. Reggie" - Combo of Mr Pickle and Reggie-Reggie, should just be called Mr October so we don't get confused), juicy chicken, and melted jack cheese over the works - or all the veggie toppings... on bread of your choice, but choice is truly the sourdough; crisp outter shell, soft and awesome center. WARNING: This is a gourmet sandwich shop in "Sheeps" clothing - so you'll get away with departing at least an Alexandar Hamilton and a (paper) George(s) if you decide to add that fountain drink and bag o chips. Not to worry though, you get a nicely stacked approximately 8x3 that has good weight, and isn't short on taste. I think all the hot sandwiches could be had cold and still be equally good. Heating the meats and cheese does a little something however, particularly to the bread, warms it and seperates the tastes with the cold greens and reds in between.

Went there for the first time the other day during lunch-time rush. The sandwich I ordered was the "Mr. Pickle" on Wheat Bread. Loved it! Way better, and a lot cheaper than Subway. Everything was fresh, and freshly cut. The pricing wasn't too expensive, and the sandwich was extremely filling. Looking forward to my next visit at Mr. Pickles!

I came in about a week after they first opened and have gone back ever since (about a year). Its about the same price as subway but the foods better quality and the people are really personable and all around just a good place to eat. It was enough to get me to create a Yelp account just to say I would recommend it for people who like to try something new.

So far my most favorite deli sandwich place in south OC. My most favorite thus far in the U. S. is Pot Belly's in Washington D.C. Downtown but we'll save that for another visit! Mr. Pickles in Lake Forest is a small mom/pops deli with a variety of sandwiches; cold cut meats, cheeses and oven baked breads. But what makes this place stand out from other sandwich joints are their pickles! Their homemade crunchy dill pickles which are inserted in all of their sandwiches are perfectly tangy, crunchy, and go great with their meats! Their "Italian Stallion"is my favorite as it is the closest thing resembling the magnificent Pot Belly's Italian sub which revives memories of my trip back east. The Italian Stallion is packed with about three different meats, cheese, a light vinegarette drizzle and pepperchinis that bring a pucker to my mouth:) you can choose from different breads,..I love their Dutch crunch roll. So if you're in the mood for a good old fashioned sandwich with a twist, and a delicious dill pickle, visit Sr. Pickles. And if for some reason you have a change of heart and suddenly crave a hole in the wall Mexican joint,...just go next door for a burrito at Albatros!! Hasta luego!

Finally writing a review for this place after eating here for a year now. Probably been here over a dozen times and I don't understand how people can eat at Subway or Quiznos when this is available. Great customer service and friendly sandwich engineers are a plus. The T-Rex is still my favorite (not on the menu) but I've had at least half the menu and nothing dissappoints.

Great place! Theses are sincerely some of the best sandwiches you'll find in OC and the service is always exceptionally friendly. I was honestly blow away by the fact that these guys are always smiling and always looking to make you smile even when there's a line out the door. It's now a regular lunch stop and should be one of yours too!

Yeah, the dutch crunch bread has a unique texture and taste, but watch the roof of your mouth cause the outside is crunchy! I know people that rave about this place. Partly because of the bread, partly because a lot of their sandwiches utilize cream cheese instead of traditional mayo mustard. I probably didn't find it as unique cause I've had cream cheese in my sandwiches ever since my mom made sandwiches for me as a kid. The inside is kind of like a mix of the eclectic surroundings of a Wahoo's Fish Tacos with the assembly line of a Subway. There's not too much seating inside or out, so it's probably a good idea to get it to-go. Regardless, this place is definitely above chains like Subways and Quizno's, and their portions are generous as well. I wouldn't mind coming here again, but only if I'm in the area.

I searched for three years for a good sandwich shop in OC and finally found one when they opened around the corner from my work! Although the best sandwich in So Cal is in Riverside, Mr Pickles is next door and comes as close as possible. The people working are always in a good mood, are fast, and friendly. The sandwiches are huge and are always two meals for me. For the name alone (since I am a serious pickle lover) I would have had to visit, their great food will keep me coming back.

I've been here a couple of times over the past two weeks. The sandwiches are great - they're like what you'd make at home, if you had more than five seconds to slap together lunch. I particularly enjoy the Mr. Pickle, which is hot and bacony and gooey and delicious. The staff is always super friendly, the music mix is good and you can't beat a free cookie. I've been coming in with a group of moms and babies and they are always super nice to us, despite our three strollers and the fact that we sit there for two hours, talk loudly, and breast feed our live young. The only thing that gets annoying is the ordering system - there's a lot of standing around and not quite knowing who's next. Perhaps a number system would make it a little more efficient.

My associate and I first visited Mr. Pickles last week after my girl friend had mentioned how much she enjoyed the one in Santa Barbara while she attended school up there. We received wonderful service with even better food with great recommendations on our order. The manager Derek was great and extremely helpful as well. Infact we just discussed our plans for lunch today, sure enough we'll be heading back for their delicious signature sandwich the "Double D" ; ) . Highly recommended over any deli if your in the South OC. IN YOUR FACE SUBWAY

This is my uptenth visit to Mr. Pickles and I just have to say how "Freaking Unbelievable" this place is. I had the "Tuna Tuna" on Dutch crunch bread. The tuna was SPOT ON! Needless to say, I am very picky about Tuna FIsh, There is not one thing wrong with this place except that I live in SJC. My brother had Pastrami on Dutch Crunch. I, of course sampled it and it was better than "THe HAT" which of course, it pretty darn good. These guys know what it takes to make your lunch an experience! If you love a good sandwich, Than run, do not walk to Mr. Pickles...

Got a salami sandwich with avocado. Yuuuuuuum. A little bit on the pricey side, but worth it! I just wish I could get my sandwich hot. Still though, I was impressed. Hard to find a good ol' deli sandwich around here that isn't from Togo's or Subway.

    (4)
  • Dani T.

Fantastic little hole-in-the wall sandwich shop that offers you a quick and delicious sandwich exactly how you want it. Much like a Togos or Subway they let you choose everything from bread to cheese to toppings but the quality seems more homemade and hence MUCH more tasty. I was happy about the vegetarian sandwich as well as the vegan options they offer for desert.

I love this place! The sandwiches are HUGE and so tasty. The bread is awesome and I think they bake it there. There isnt a lot of seating left at lunch time but I just take it to go. The staff is always funny and friendly and truly act like they enjoy their job! I have recommended them to anyone who will listen!

Yesterday, I had the best sandwich I have had in a long time. The turkey was real, deli turkey. The blend of mustard and mayo with the shredded lettuce was perfect. The pickles were super good and just the right amount. The wheat roll was the perfect amount of bread, and it was fresh! I love a good sandwich, and this is as good as it gets. To top it off, the staff were ALL friendly and helpful. They actually converse with you while they make your sandwich. Our table was missing a chair, and before I had a chance to look around, VIOLA, a chair was brought to us. Not only do I recommend this place, but I will be back, and soon.

Best sandwich shop around! I get the "Hot T" every time, and it's DELICIOUS. Turkey, cranberry sauce, spicy ranch, and pepperjack cheese.. and you gotta go with the Dutch Crunch bread!

Way over priced and if they say there is Avocado i did not see it or the bacon not even a bacon bit! I order the BLAT and they made a tuna.I spoke with the manger and would you believe he had a attitude not good Bussiness. No I,m not ever going back I think Mr. Pickle is writing reviews! The great reviews can't be the same place it's "impossible"

If you are looking for tasty sandwiches at a decent price and generous size, look no further!!! I've ordered 48 sandwiches for an event, everyone was very happy with the food. Well done, Mr Pickle's.

    (5)
  • No B.

I as well was there on opening on day and ordered the BLAT. I as well was handed a small 6" sub which was lacking of B - Bacon, T- Tomato and mostly A- Avocado. Not once, but twice...First time on Monday and second time on Wednesday. I was entirely disappointed in quality and quantity of the product served. The issue that I also have is that for a total of $8.15, (Yes for some reason they are charging TAX on a cold to go item, which is not legal. Dine in yes, to go, NO!), but for a basic 'pre-tax' price of $7.45 for a 6" sub I REALLY expected a lot more! Well something more than Ice Berg Lettuce and mayonnaise, since right up the street I can get a fully loaded BLAT for $5.95, not get charged tax and actually find PLENTY of Bacon, Tomato and Avocado on it! Sorry I will stick with Peanuts Pub and Grub right next to El Toro Tack and Feed, less than a block down on Centre...besides they have a good selection of beer as well!

Here is what I tried: Reuben sandwich, Got beef and The Hot T (turkey sandwich). All they were delicious. Reuben is the best, then Hot T and then Got beef. They were all fresh and very tasty. The prices here are more tha one would pay at Subway or Quiznos, but the taste here is way much better. I

I recently had visited another sandwich shop call The Lil Pickle in Costa Mesa (which received high reviews on here) and I was completely disappointed. It lacked flavor, flare, and well... it felt like any other sandwich shop out there, banal. I've been spoiled by Mr. Pickles; I've been a frequent customer of theirs for the past 2 months with 2 to 3 visit a week. I've recommended all my co-workers there and they absolutely love the place. The custom built sandwiches are a work of art, flavors mingling with one another and then erupts into euphoria and lingers on my taste buds long after the bite is gone. So hearty, so savory, so fresh, so gratifying that it puts all the major sandwich chain to shame. So what if you can get a $5 foot long sub from subway, all you get is bread and veggies; with Mr. Pickles you get a feast. My favs: 1. The Italian Stallion 2. The Reuben 3. The Hot "T" 4. Mr. Reggie and 5. Hang Loose. The Vibe there is chill, the food itself is stellar, the owner (Mike) takes pride in his craft of sandwich making that you can only appreciate all the efforts that were applied into making the perfect sandwich. You go there once you'll walk away content and wanting more. In my perspective, there is no comparison, the next best sandwich shop is Gallo's, but that's all the way in Newport Beach.

anyone who rates less than 4 stars is a hater... i had almost every sandwich on the menu. dutch crunch bread is awesome. the staff is very friendly. the owner is a very nice guy. people shouldnt even compare this place with other sandwich joints. its in a league of its own

    (5)
  • Robert H.

Very good but pricey!! Like my comment about Jersey Mike's, would go much more often if they were cheaper. $10+ for sandwich lunch is ridiculous. That's the reason for the 3 stars

Mr. Pickle's is a small, assuming, no-frills sandwich shop that is pretty easy to miss, especially since it's located directly across the street from the flashy neon-lit signage of The Hat. The generously-sized sandwiches here are pretty solid. I ordered the Italian Stallion with everything. The mayo, mustard, garlic sauce, and Italian dressing may have been overkill, but I liked it and thought it all worked with the ham, salami, and (oddly) pastrami. To my surprise, what didn't work for me was the Dutch Crutch bread. Contrary to other Yelpers, I don't feel it added anything positive to the sandwich, other than the crunch. It was doughy, lacked flavor, and reminded me of an unsweetened snickerdoodle. I wouldn't order it again. On another visit, I had the Reuben, which was just average, in large part because the pastrami itself was pretty pedestrian. The marbled rye was good, but it would have been much better grilled or, at the very least, toasted. Priced around $8, I'm not sure the sandwiches are worth it. But the free cookie that comes with each order is certainly a nice touch.

    (3)
  • Frank S.

Literally across the street from The Hat, you would think nobody is crazy enough to go in and order a pastrami sandwich here... but I took a chance... and it PAID OFF! DUTCH CRUNCH... this is one of the best sandwich breads of all time - I loved it. I got the Hang Loose sandwich which was: hot pastrami, bacon, cream cheese, and avocado. I got no mayo but instead asked for extra garlic sauce (cut calories!). I did a sad face when they told me there's no horseradish sauce (I like to eat pastrami with horseradish at The Hat), but that CREAM CHEESE they put on the sandwiches... it TOTALLY WORKS! 5 stars from a person who doesn't even like sandwiches... that's gotta mean something!

This lady Penny who works here was extremely rude. She was on the phone while taking my order. I asked if I could do the yelp check in meal deal with the sandwich, chips and drink, and she agreed. She rang me up at the register and I paid. Later on when I was grabbing chips, she blurted out in front of a bunch of customers in line.. WAIT, YOU DIDN'T PAY FOR THAT.. as if I stole something! It was so embarrassing! Obviously I wouldn't steal something, especially, right in front of the register! She mistakenly rang me up only for the sandwich, which the way was pretty much the same price because she was too busy ON THE PHONE!! I will never eat here again. This place definitely needs to shape up on their customer service.. The sandwich on the other hand was very bland. Nothing that stands out of the ordinary here. They also don't have much variety in their add ons... Subway actually has more.. for example, they don't have spinach, olives, etc... you get the picture. Not sure why this place is rated so highly. Certainly was a disappointment to come here. Money- $5 minimum on credit cards so bring cash if you plan to spend less... because this place certainly isn't worth the extra dollars

Well, I'm impressed. :) Had one of the best tuna salad sandwiches ever here. Great bread and friendly staff. Menu has a nice variety and the place was clean enough. My only complaint was very limited parking.

  • Des I.

First time here! And it was the little things that make this sandwich shop standout. I'm pretty sure they bake their bread there, and if not they get It local. I had the "Mr.Pickle" on Dutch. The bread was so crunchy and sweet its still making my mouth water. My girlfriend had the "Summer Love" on Wheat. I only had a bite but it was so flavorful! She likes it; she's almost done with her whole sandwich. The cookie they give you was good! Little crunchier than I'd like but it's just a personal thing. It's a nice gesture! We will definitely be returning.

  • DL K.

I only get one thing here so my review is biased. But, that one thing is my favorite sandwich ever and it is the "got beef". Pastrami, roast beef, garlic aoli, swiss and I get it on dutch bread. Considering that this shop is across the street from The Hat, where they're known for their pastrami, yet I always bypass them to go here should say enough. Yes, it's a bit pricey. And yes, dutch bread makes your mouth feel like you've eaten three boxes of captain crunch. But it's a perfect damn sammich.

The not-so-typical sandwich place...great and creative options that I can't find anywhere else. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone who is on their lunch and wants options. Very yummy!!

  • Nicole K.

Two words: DUTCH. CRUNCH. Sure, the bread does cut up the roof of your mouth a bit, but dang - it's so flavorful and I love the slight sweetness in the crunch. Love the sandwiches here; they're so flavorful and hearty. I can tell that they use good quality ingredients as well. Their potato salad is also pretty darn delicious -- flavorful and very creamy. The garlic sauce they put on a lot of their sandwiches is pretty dank but it's cut with a LOT of oil. I usually ask for that instead of mayo since it's pretty rich. Wait time is always decent even when they're packed and they seem to always get special (high maintenance) orders right the first time around. You get a free cookie with every sandwich and as far free cookies are concerned, they're really tasty. The only thing I'm not too crazy about is that they have cans of soda instead of a fountain, but hey, can't win 'em all, right?

Full disclosure: the first time I ate here I got sick that day. Not saying they were responsible, but it took me a while to come back, just in case. I'm glad I did. They have some great big sammies, and while a lil pricey they are big enough for two. And the bread selection is great. Glad to see a sandwich place doing some great bread. Dutch Crunch is the way to go, but be careful cuz that crunchiness can shred up a softer mouth. Or you can get a sweet roll or sourdough, or one of the others they have for a gentler experience. So the sandwich I had that fateful day was the Mr. Pickle special: Chicken, Bacon, Avocado and Jack cheese. It was certainly delicious, but I wish I hadn't got sick cuz now I'm afraid to try it again. But I've had others since, and they've all been great: Italian Stallion, Jake, Got Beef. All winners. You even get a cookie with your sandwich. This is mostly a lunch spot for local businesses. The interior isn't much to look at, but it's cool and it's clean, so it'll do. The staff is pretty friendly too. Hopefully you get an adult working on your food though, cuz some of the younger staff aren't as consistent. But hey they're kids, what're you gonna do. Overall a pretty good sandwich shop, doing it right in the Lake Forest area.

I love this place! They make a great sandwich, my personal favorite is the pastrami with melted Swiss on a marble rye bread. Soooo delicious!! The service is great too!

The Double D sandwich was very good. It had FRESH green avocados, not brownish green slop you get at most places. I will be back.

Place is horrible since the new owners started. Used to be a go to place. There were seven employees working and not one wanted to help. They were all laughing and sitting down and not working. Horrible Experience and will never be back

Well, I'm disappointed... I haven't been here in quite a while... probably about a year or so, a few months after the business was sold. I understand a few changes had to happen but the food didn't seem to suffer the change of hands. That's the good thing. Today I came in because I found one of my old Frequent Buyer Card, where you buy 9 sandwiches and get the 10th free. As you know, their sandwiches are not the cheapest of the bunch but they're plenty tasty. I have to come a long way for this place so I made a special trip this time to claim my free sandwich... or so I thought. As soon as I place my order, I asked if they still honor these cards. Come to find out they no longer do that. They have a new system (Spot On) that you can use to claim rewards. That's fine and dandy; however, I spent a lot of money on these sandwiches and was hoping to claim my free one this time around. That sucks. My sandwich was fine, maybe a little more bland than what I remember. Not bad but not excellent like it used to be. Just good. I'm afraid It may be a long time before I head back to this place again. I need to clear the bad taste out of my mouth from this experience.

By far the best sandwich I've ever had. I got the turkey with avocado and cream cheese and it was just amazing! I ordered online but got there a little early and it wasn't a problem they wipped them up in no time. Friendly guys making them too.

While I make a decent effort to eat at local owned restaurants and understand the struggle that most small businesses face. I cannot and will not support an establishment that insults their customers' intelligence and has anything short of transparent business practices. I ordered 4 specialty sandwiches and thought it would be beneficial to use the $3.99 for any speciality sandwich. It equates to up $3.49 off. Here's the thing. He made me get a drink and chips that cost $3.49 for a total of $0 savings. Here's the thing. I would've come here without the offer!! If you don't want to offer the yelp deal, then don't!! It doesn't seem to me like you're looking for customers who are chasing a deal. You have a fine product. Improve your customer service and build a loyal fan base. Because right now, it appears to me like you don't believe in your product, you're in this strictly for the money, and you don't appreciate your patrons very much. Sad that I won't be coming back. PS where is my cookie?!?!

I'll give you a nickel if you tickle my pickle! Ok, so I'm not very creative, but at least I crack myself up! I love this sandwich place. It could be navies of the Dutch crunch bread or their delicious garlic sauce. I have an obsession with garlic, so anything with garlic is a winner in my book. I usually get the golden gate and mmm. Or if you actually go inside they have some specials which are really delish as well. I can't go wrong with Mr. Pickles!

We started coming here years ago, when we lived in South OC and it was under the previous ownership. Then, it was 5 stars all the way! But, the new ownership definitely cost this place a star, in my book. Staff aren't as friendly, owners always seem to be hovering around, loyalty stamp card was easier than the electronic version they have now, and I could SWEAR the sandwiches and the free cookie have gotten just a tiny bit smaller. They're also a bit stingy with my "extra, EXTRA pickles, please" request. Hm, reading this makes me thing it's less than 4 stars, but... Having said all that, when in the area, I'll still almost always make a stop here...just because of that freakin' AMAZING Dutch Crunch bread. Yes, it tears up the inside of your mouth like Captain Crunch cereal, but it's oooh so worth it! They also have the sometimes-hard-to-find Dirty brand chips - yum, but pricey!

  • Sheryl S.

So disappointed .. Staff is friendly enough but the salami on my sandwich was clearly old (slimy and other things that don't need to be detailed). It wasn't inedible but clearly NOT fresh. I have to agree with the previous reviews - quality has absolutely gone down since the ownership change. There used to be long lines, sometimes out the door. Not so much anymore. That pretty much says it all :(

This place still rocks! I ordered the Hot Italian and it was so good! My friend ordered the Hot Michelle. We each shared half of our sandwich so we could try both. Both were amazing. Do yourself a favor and try your sandwich with the dutch bread. You won't regret it!

Dear New Owner, In the spirit of Christmas (and sung to the theme of "Deck The Halls"), 12 days away...You are... "Dumb, de dumb, da dumb dumb dumb dumb, dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb da dumb dumb dumb!" Not honoring my frequent buyers Sub Club card because the old owner screwed you? So you screw me? So, guess what...screw you! Since you so desperately wanted to protect your overpriced $7 or $9 sandwich rather than keep a satisfied customer under your new ownership...I walked out...but you knew that since you were the one who made that choice. Since you so desperately wanted to protect your overpriced $7 or $9 sandwich rather than keep a satisfied customer under your new ownership...I told you I was never going to eat at your establishment again...but you knew that since you were the one who made that choice. Since you so desperately wanted to protect your overpriced $7 or $9 sandwich rather than keep a satisfied customer under your new ownership...I told you I was going to write a negative review the moment I got back to my office, which I'm doing now...but you knew that since you were the one who made that choice. Since you so desperately wanted to protect your overpriced $7 or $9 sandwich rather than keep a satisfied customer under your new ownership...I will laugh at your doorstep when you shutter your business...and you will...but you knew that since you were the one who made that choice.

I'm not typically a sammich peep so take it for what it is, but I thought their Italian Stallion sandwich was just OK. It came with ham, salami, pastrami & Italian dressing, plus all the other ingredients you want to add - (lettuce, tomatos, pickles, mustard, garlic sauce, etc). You can choose your bread so I selected the Dutch Crunch bread - see attached photo. The bread was hard and the ingredients were okay, nothing special. When I walked in, there were 2 workers who were so busy baking the cookies and slicing the bread that after they acknowledged me, they continued to bake the cookies & slice the bread w/o taking my order. Keep in mind that there was no one else in the shop but me. Not the best customer service, but hey, they're known for their sandwiches. The best part of the experience was the free chocolate chip cookie that came with the sandwich (which was actually quite good) and the Yelp deal - check in on Yelp and get $3 for the sandwich! Now that's a deal!

Good but a little too pricey . I ordered the Ruben on Dutch with chips and two drinks . Me bill was $14.00. I had heard this place was good but I won't be coming here too many more times. Next time ill try The hat.

After all the hype, Mr. Pickle fell way short. Basics: Unfriendly staff, check Clueless and non-helpful staff, check Overpriced, check Not a lot of meat or fixins inside, check The quality of the meat was okay, better than Subway, not as good as Jersey Mike's. The dutch crunch bread was fresh baked and good, but I didn't like the sweetness of the bread with my meats. I asked about the macaroni & potato salad (it says has eggs & soy) and not one worker, out of three, had a clue what soy product was in this (they also clearly could care less about finding out) :( This is a pass for me.

Unfortunately under the new ownership I have to downgrade this place by two stars. The new staff is not laid back and friendly and the owners give off the vibe of being stingy. At least they brought back the off-menu items. Without those the place lost all flair and felt corporate-y. I also have to ding them a star for not honoring my stamp cards. I kept forgetting to use them under the old ownership so I piled up about 4 or 5 free sandwiches. Then right after the new owners took over I was so turned off I didn't go back for a year or two. Now I've gotten over my disappointment about the change in ownership only to find out they refuse to honor my stamp cards. Now, I understand they don't want to give out a free sandwich when it was the previous owner who got my money. They should understand that I DON'T CARE who is the owner. I am a customer of a restaurant and when you buy someone's business you don't just get their equipment and their name, you also get their debts and their liabilities! Even though I WANT to give them one store for poor service, I feel like that it's unfair to businesses on yelp when people give them 1 star over a personal grudge or one bad experience. So one ding it is. Three stars instead of four.

First things first - this isn't Subway. This also isn't a "gourmet" place for those who may be tempted to rate it as such. It's sort of a nice in-between sandwich shop with a handful of locations spread throughout Southern California. The prices are a bit high but in return you get good food. One good thing to know about me is that I love sandwiches. I could die happy eating one. Though I hope that never happens... I got the Reggie Reggie on Dutch Crunch bread. DC bread is also known as Giraffe bread which was formerly known as Tiger bread until this went viral: dailymail.co.uk/news/art… Yeah, that^ has got to be one of the cutest things I've ever read. I wish I could go back to being a 3 or 4 year old and be friends with that girl. Adorable. Anyway. The name "Mr. Pickle's" is actually rather cute to me. I know many folks like to make phallic jokes about the name and mascot...but the shop name is charming! Perhaps it's the happy and innocent little 4 year old in me :P Though, I don't know that many kids would like the sandwiches here (maybe?). The food here is well suited for the adult lunch crowd. The RR sandwich on DC bread is great. Perfectly moist chicken with a bit of a kick from the pepperjack cheese, peppers, onions, and mustard. Really nice combination. They are generous with the chicken breast and I feel that I got my money's worth. I'm so glad this sandwich wasn't too salty or bland. I was afraid it might go either direction. The sandwich can get a bit wet but I helped avoid this a little by asking for no mayo and no tomatoes. I would recommend this sandwich to anyone that likes chicken sandwiches! The DC bread is fantastic. It's bakery quality - perfectly and lightly crunchy on top and bottom with soft white bread inside. Served warm (for most sandwiches it seems). I wonder if they sell just the bread loaves...I should ask next time. And it's true - you get a free chocolate chip cookie with your order. The cookie is just ok but I would never deny a free fresh baked chocolate chip cookie. I would love to come back and try their other sandwiches! :)

I eat here all the time and I have always been given service with a smile and my sandwich is always consistently delicious! Not too bad of a wait usually but it definitely gets crowded for lunch usually. If you come right before or after the lunch rush then the service is usually pretty quick! I always get the Tom's Turkey with avacado and it keeps me coming back!

I was craving sandwiches and didn't want to eat Le Dip again so I yelped and found Mr. Pickle's. I gave it a try and ordered a Double D and Hang Loose. The Double D was really good, the ingredients put together made it burst with flavor. The Hang Loose was good but not as good as the Double D. Their service is really good. You might want to order ahead online because the wait does get long sometimes during lunch.

Coworker was raving about "Mr. Pick", so we stopped in one day. I got the Hang Loose. Oddly enough, I'd never gone to Mr. Pickles when I lived in Sacramento, but I can definitely get the Sacramento sandwich shop feel from the place. EG, the slabs of cream cheese instead of sliced cheese, the straight-forward setup of the menu and shop. Sandwiches (food in general, actually) were what I liked best about Sacramento. My Hang Loose had a ton of cream cheese and bacon and pastrami and everything else. I loved it. I scarfed that mofo down, much to the awe and mild disgust of my coworker. The nice thing is that Mr. Pickles includes a fresh cookie with each sandwich. It's kind of like going to a restaurant and getting a toy when you're kid, except I'm an adult now and I just flip out over chocolate. And sandwiches. They never, EVER have the Dutch Crunch roll when I roll in because it is so popular. My second, and last, complaint is that their calorie add-up seems really.......off. If you are on a diet, don't eat here. Well, obviously, sandwiches are a TERRIBLE idea for dieters, but these sandwiches are particularly calorie-packed. Luckily, I don't have to/just plain don't care about any of that. If you do worry, just pick up a gym membership and start lifting really heavy weights so you can sando binge at this shop.

DAaYYAAMMMMM - that's exactly what popped into my head when I beheld my very first Mr. Pickles sandwich on their delicious Dutch Crunch bread. This sandwich is NOT for the faint of heart (see my picture). Packed full of flavor, they make sure they feed you and feed you WELL here - TONS of meat, TONS of avocado, TONS of toppings.... Oh, and did I even mention -- free cookie??! Hells..... YES. Full sized Mr. Pickles sandwich with a bottled water and free cookie = $9. Dear god, I'm in heaven. I think this place would give even Le Diplomat a run for its money if it was located closer to UC Irvine. Sandwiches are just as tasty, it's cheaper than Le Dip, AND the sandwiches are bigger! Oh... and do I even need to say this again.... free soft, gooey, chocolate chip cookie??! HELLS YES! Best sandwich I've had in a long, long time. I think their crunch bread is addictive. I've never had anything like it. I don't know how they make it, but it's amazing - unique, crunchy texture (reminiscent of corn bread, almost), kind of chewy but soft at the same time, slightly sweet as well. So good, highly recommended. One negative though (if you could even call it that) would be that this place is located literally right next door to Albatros. OMFG..... !!! How am I supposed to decide which place to eat at for lunch??!?

Dutch Crunch bread is what it's about. If you're a fan of a crunchy exterior and a soft inside, go with the Dutch Crunch. They have a lot of sandwich combinations and their sandwiches are BIG! Love the garlic sauce they put on the sandwiches!!

So the first time I had Mr. Pickles in Woodland was during my undergrad and I thought it was just a small sandwich store. My friend introduced it to me and I immediately fell in love with the sandwiches! I could have sworn I wrote a review for that location... As I yelp around looking for new places, I came across Mr. Pickles in HB and was stoked..but Im hardly in the area..so I never got the chance to go! One day my co-worker asked me if I wanted Mr. Pickles for lunch and my eyes went ginormous and HELL YES. Thank god for work and co-workers huh?! First of all, service is awesome here! I know its just a sandwich shop..but the people who work here are really friendly, nice and helpful. My co-workers and I got hooked up with the Yelp check-in deal: $5 for a sandwich and chips or a drink after 2 PM. We would always arrive 15 mins before 2PM so that was awfully nice of them. Of course you cant go wrong with the Dutch bread and it is highly recommended. But a lot of people may not like it because its extremely hard on the teeth and may even scratch your palete. I usually make my own sandwich..usually a Turkey on Dutch Bread with Swiss and everything but pickles, peppers and mustard. Yes, Im boring. Ive also tried their Specialty Sandwiches such as the Tom Turkey ( what's new? but theres bacon in it!) and Tuna Tuna. I prefer the Tom turkey one, but Tuna tuna isnt bad at all. I have bit into the Big Jake..its tasty, but the cream cheese is what gets me. My co-worker enjoys it very much though! Oh did I mention they also give you a complimentary cookie?? Yums! Enjoy! ;)

Heard was a great sandwich place from people at work, so gave it a try. Excited to see Yelp check in coupon- $3.99 for a sandwich, chips & drink. Well. .. it was not as shown. It meant you got the overpriced chips & drink "free" $3.50 credit, sandwich still $7.49. So for 2 sandwiches, 2 drinks, 2 chips = $19.06 for 2 people WITH yelp coupon. Sandwiches were okay, cookies was, uh, free (get what you pay for). Garlic sauce was good. If I'm paying that much, I'll go to Panera or The Hat instead. Food & prices are better, and Panera coupons are at least honest, unlike here.

Excellent REAL subway sandwich, very filling unlike lousy Subway. This is the place to go if you want authentic subway sandwiches. I got #18 Hot Beef/Pastrami with Dutch bread. Be careful of this bread scraping roof of your mouth but it's pretty good. It comes with a free cookie. Place is across from The Hat in a small strip plaza. Parking is limited especially during work lunch hour. It's ridiculous to pay almost $10 for a sandwich. Theirs are $7.49 so with tax it's a little over $8.

Ever noticed the dancing Pickle in Lake Forest? Thought he was cute? Or silly looking? Or thought his dancing was funny? Or wondered what he was advertising? Well, he was out there dancing for Mr Pickle's Sandwich Shop, of course! Every time I drive by the dancing Pickle on the corner of either Lake Forest and Carlota or Lake Forest and Rockfield, I always think he's waving at me to come in. After months of him waving at me, I finally came to pay this shop a visit. I love the smell of a fresh bakery when you first walk into the shop. I was hooked the second I walked in by the smell alone! Go check them out and you'll know what I mean. I love their Dutch Crunch Roll bread. It's soooooo good. And crunchy. And fresh. I like! I could eat a whole roll of bread alone. I ordered the Italian Stallion sandwich. I love salami, ham, pastrami, provolone, Italian dressing and veggies, so this was an obvious choice for me. The sandwich makers are very generous on the meat. There was a whole half inch of pure meat on my sandwich. How awesome is that?! Plus, the sandwich was REALLY good too. *drool* They even give you a free cookie with your purchase too! Um, hello, this sweet addict loves you for that alone! I also love that they actually have Diet Dr Pepper....I'm in love with you even more!! Staff us friendly and helpful. I've never seen so many sandwich makers and cashiers seem so happy and smile so much. What do they put in their water?! Price wise, they are on the expensive side for a Sandwich place. All of their sandwiches hover around $7.95. You don't get to pick your sandwich size either, all the sandwiches are one size. They are big enough for two people to share too. I made the mistake of eating almost the whole sandwich and realized after that I ate way too much. Soda and chips are extra. Oh, and they will also give you a stamp card which is buy 8 sandwiches, get one free. Nice! Overall, wonderful experience!! This is my favorite sandwich place in the area and I will be visiting more frequently now, especially on my lunch break! Cheers!

I work close by the shop & (used to) eat there pretty frequently cause it's close & pretty cheap. However, after the last time I went there, I don't think I'll be going there again. I went in to order my usual, & didn't notice until after I got home & opened the wrap that they gave me the wrong one. When I ordered, there was a couple in front of me getting their orders taken (I'm assuming I was given one of their wraps). Not only did they give me the wrong wrap but there was a long black hair in it, too! Yuck. Every time I've been to this shop the service has been crappy. The workers are sloppy, apathetic, & not very polite, as well as the manager. Every time I've seen her in there, she comes off as somewhat rude & seems like she hates her life. I've had multiple reasons to complain about the service here in the past but overlooked it because it's convenient & cheap. But after this experience I think I'm done eating there. Also, the cookies suck.

I've been eyeing this place for a while. I love sandwichs. I found their deal on Amazon and got a job in the area so I had to try them. My only regret is that I waited so long. The first time I came in I tried the Turkey and it was pretty good, but those are hard to mess up. This time I grabbed their Chicken Salad it's a little more challenging to get a good one. They nailed it. I also like the choices of bread...wheat, sourdough, dutch and sweet. I can't wait to try them all. Parking is a little tough, but that's not their fault. The foods been good and service is good. Did I mention the free cookie with the spot on check in. I love free cookies

Small joint in a strip mall but dont judge a book by its cover! The people working in there were very friendly. Had a craving for pickles and pepperoncinis! Got my fix and it tasted great. Asked for avocado in the sandwich, the person cut a nice looking avocado and put the slices. Could not ask for it to be fresher than that!

Best sandwich ever. The Dutch bread is crispy on the outside yet soft and fluffy inside, the garlic spread gives it a unique taste and I get turkey with all the veggies. I've never tried anything besides this because I love it so much I usually come here because I'm craving it. The staff is super friendly and I had the pleasure of meeting the owner last time I was in and she is a sweetheart. She was entertaining my son while I ate, very nice! The only thing I wish they had was a soda machine!

This is a review of my experience on 05-02-11 which I thought was posted but was listed as "pending": Finally after over a year of hearing about this place and craving a sandwich (specifically a cheese, avocado and lettuce sandwich) like crazy the last 2 days, I decided to swing by and pick up lunch for me and my husband. Overall the sandwiches were good but I was turned off by the following: 1. The guy (I am assuming the owner) behind the counter seemed kinda irritated when I choice to "make my own" sandwich rather than selecting one of his specialties. I brushed it off because I knew what I wanted (I didn't want meat, which was also met with a bit of attitude) but the lady behind me was badgered for wanting to order a "boring" sandwich albeit it would be "the best boring sandwich she'd ever had". Note to the guy behind the counter, not the way to go about getting someone to order one of your specialty sandwiches. 2. While guy #1 is making my husband's sandwich, guy #2 comes over to start making mine. As they were standing next to each other, guy #1 leans over to guy #2 and tells him to remove his earring which the guy does BUT USES THE SAME GLOVED HANDS HE'S USING TO MAKE MY SANDWICH AND DOESN'T CHANGE THE GLOVES. Note #2 to owner: I'd rather have a guy with an earring making my sandwich than a guy with hands that have been touching his ears making my sandwich. Needless to say, I'm not going back.

not very good. =( i was waiting for oc auto care to put new tires on my car. there weren't a lot of places open, but i decided to check out mr. pickle's because i saw a yelp friend reviewed it and gave it 4 stars (back in 2010). i really like pastrami and i asked how it compared to the hat across the street. they said it was better, more tender, more juicy. ok...sold. sadly, it was the opposite. it was dry, tough, warm (not hot...my cheese didn't even melt), and honestly...i would've rather eaten a hot pastrami sandwich from subway. very very disappointed. i gave the other half of my sandwich to the mechanic...but i did give him a heads up that it wasn't that good.....however, i am a food snob. i liked the free chocolate chip cookie that came with my sammy.

Shame on Mr. Pickles. I heard heaps of good reviews about this place and I finally had the chance to try it. And it's soo blaaaahhh! $9, really?! I could have gone to Subway for a $5 footlong and it would have tasted waaay better than this. I ordered a tuna with mayo, avocado, and provolone on a Dutch Crunch and the sandwich was dry as the Sahara Desert. Water! Dutch Crunch was a let down. Definitely NOT coming back here. Boo.

I am surprised by the average 4 star rating on Yelp! I have been there twice and ordered the following: BBQ Melt on Sourdough with dirty chips and a Snapple Hang Loose on Dutch Crunch with dirty chips and a Snapple I thought the sandwiches were OK and nothing special. I just have this feeling of discontent while eating microwaved meat with room temperature bread. The food was OK, the service was OK and the food was overpriced for what I got. I have tried it twice and have no reason to come back.

  • L W.

Came here with the Yelp check-in deal which basically gave you free drinks and chips with any specialty sandwich. I had the Hang Loose sandwich, which had hot pastrami, cream cheese, avocado and bacon. It was alright, but the Dutch Crunch bread ripped off the top layer of my gums. I felt that the bread to meat ratio was a bit sketch, and would have liked to have more meat on my sandwich. My bf got the Reuben, which tasted pretty good! Again, the bread to meat ratio was suspect. All-in-all, this place is so-so. Overpriced sandwiches and not much meat.

I ordered the Hang Loose specialty sandwich--absolutely delicious, especially on Dutch bread! Soft and crunchy yum yum yum. They have a specialty sandwich deal one of the employees told me is always available, so don't rush out for a sandwich like I did, thinking it was a day-long special ;-) I'll definitely go back to try some more sandwiches!

It seems like everything is back to normal at Mr. Pickle's sandwich. I had written earlier about the way they were making the sandwich and how the quality fell after the new owners have moved in. However, my few recent visit showed me that they've got it right now. The sandwich are delicious as ever. My recommendation for chicken lovers still stand at #13 Mr. Pickle on Dutch bread with everything and #17 Chicken BBQ with Dutch bread. Even now it's a better deal when you use the Yelp check in. For the same price of a sandwich, you can also get a soda and a bag of chips! Now there's definitely an incentive for me to go even more. If you haven't tried it, TRY it. You will find that this sandwich is much better than a lot of other sandwich places you've had. I've been coming for the past 3 years and still love it.

Once again I find myself at odds with my fellow Yelpers, for most people this would cause quite a quandary, but I trust my palate and ability to write a review which is impartial and fair. Yelp should have a "In Rohlin We Trust" wrapped around its insignia. My lovely wife and I were having a busy day of running errands, needed some substance and with several options in the area settled on Mr. Pickle's. We drove to the location and were lucky to find parking. During the lunch time rush, parking becomes limited with several options for lunch available in the small area. Once inside we started looking at the menu. Mr. Pickle's offers (7) Protein choices, (5) types of Cheese, (5) types of roll and (3) Dressings. Everything on their sandwiches includes: Mayonnaise, Mustard, Garlic Sauce, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Peppers, Onions and Pickles. Extras include: Cheese, Avocado, Cranberry and Bacon. In my opinion the topping and protein choices were nothing special, most sandwich shops have a better selection. You can either make your own sandwich or order one of their (20) Specialty Sandwiches (vary by location). My better half settled on the Italian Stallion (Ham, Salami, Pastrami and Italian Dressing) with Lettuce, Tomatoes, Onions and Mayonnaise on the Dutch Crunch and I ordered the BBQ Melt (Chicken Breast, BBQ Sauce and Melted Cheddar) with Lettuce, Tomatoes, Onions and Pickles on Dutch Crunch. Laina was thinking about getting a side of either the Potato Salad or the Macaroni Salad, but abandoned this thought when none of the three workers could tell her what soy product was in the salads. I abhor anything soy that isn't followed by the word sauce, so I wasn't eating it anyway, but it was still disappointing to find out the employees are unaware of what is in the products they are selling. The Specialty sandwiches come with a chocolate chip cookie (a nice touch) and we grabbed a bag of Dirty's Mesquite BBQ Potato Chips to split. Mr. Pickle's does have a Check-in offer: $3.99 for Specialty Sandwiches. My wife used the check-in offer on her sandwich, but the person ringing us up never asked if it was together or separate and quickly ran up the order before I had on opportunity to show her my check-in offer, even though it was quite obvious I was on a smart phone. Rohlinism: I figure even the younger generation is familiar with what happens when you assume. Assume = Ass out of u and me. Under different circumstances, I would have made her re-ring the items, separating our orders so I could use my offer, but I had been running errands all morning and still had more errands to run so this is one hassle I didn't need. The shop itself has limited seating, but it wasn't very busy when we were there so finding seating wasn't a problem. The Dutch Crunch bread is made fresh and had a sweet taste to it, unfortunately mine seemed to crack in several places making it difficult to eat the sandwich. The thickness of the bread was not too my liking, since it was thicker than the contents of the sandwich. In my opinion, the quality of the meats and veggies were no better than Subway, but without the check-in offer, you are paying twice as much for the same size sandwich. I would have liked more pickles in my sandwich, Laina would have liked more lettuce in hers and was equally unimpressed with the quality. There was no option for telling the people making the sandwiches to add more of an item, because they make the sandwiches behind steel plates. Customer service was sadly lacking. We were barely greeted when we came in. When my wife asked what came on the sandwiches, one of the workers without looking at her, referred her to the red line on the menu board. I found this bordering on rude since the shop wasn't busy. Why didn't you just ask for her phone number and text her a response? In my opinion, the experience was very mechanical: the workers were only interested in getting our order and processing it as quickly as possible. I don't see what my fellow Yelper find so great about this place, it is a definite pass for me in the future!

Tried to beat the crowd at car shop, so I was in the neighborhood pretty early, like 7:30am. Dropped off the car, and was told an hour wait. Decided to walk around to find some food. This place opens at 8, so it's perfect. Went in and greeted by owner (not sure), and was told it will take 10 minutes for the bread to be ready. Even better, fresh bread! I ordered the double D on dutch bread, which is a souped-up version of pulled pork sandwich. Oh my, I gotta tell you, I originally thinking of eating half and keep the other half for later, and once I started, I forgot about that. It was cripsty and fluffy on the bread, the pull pork is tender and juicy and paired with crispy chips inside, whoever thought of and came up with this combination is awesome. After my sandwich I was offered a freshly baked cookie. Yummy as well. My car ended up needing more service and took longer, but I was in good mood because of this sandwich, and the mechanic didn't get my profanity. world peace. That is really a good sandwich. Double D it is. You should try it. Not sure if it's a holiday special, but it is that good.

I think I found my go-to sandwich place...subway and quizno's do not compare. Great portion size sandwich and they have my fav bread, dutch crunch!! I decide to try this place out yesterday and once you walk in, the 2 fellas behind the counter greeted me. I ordered the house combo on dutch crunch without mayo (not good for ya) and the peppers (not much into heat). I was chattin it up with the guys and they are 2 cool dudes - pretty chill. Since i didn't want mayo, the guy asked if i would like a spread of garlic on the top bread as it was dry and I said sure why not (that was nice to ask). Also, he asked if I wanted American cheese and after much thought, let's go with swiss cheese (suppose to be more healthier than the other cheeses). I am glad he asked as well..=) The sandwich was just huge - I ate only half f it and ate the other half today. Today, I just put it in the toaster oven and it came out yum still. If you ever crave a sandwich, this is a place to go - hands down!

As someone who sees the sandwich as an artless form of convenience, Mr. Pickle's Sandwich Shop gave me a whole new outlook. Hubby was craving a sandwich and figured with all its lofty reviews, should be a safe bet. He was surprised I went along with it but I was curious about it as well. I went big...I ordered the Hang Loose on Dutch crunch bread and "everything" on it. Wow....the sandwich jumped into my mouth and sucker punched my heart strings. The bread was crunching and warm...it tasted so fresh I could have actually eaten it on its own. The fillings (pastrami, little bit of bacon, cream cheese and avo) melded into bites of paradise and I had to do everything to stop myself from hoovering the whole thing in one sitting. Hubby ordered the Italian Stallion (my second choice) on sourdough bread. I took a bite and thought I made the right choice. He thought vice versa but I guess to each his/her own. Personally, I felt the Dutch crunch made the sandwich and the Italian Stallion would have been equally awesome if hubby had skipped the chewy sourdough. We also ordered the mac salad and potato salad. When we could spare a second between bonding with our respective sandwiches, we took a bite of each and immediately noticed the potato salad stood out far above the mac salad. Yum! All in all, this was a great choice for a busy Monday evening and never will I have the same view of sandwiches again.

This is some bomb-ass sandwich place. The Dutch Crunch bread is awesome! And the Reuben on marble is spectacular. Free Cookie is the icing on the cake! The sandwiches are packed with meat and all the workers look like they get sponsored by Vans for some reason lol. They all work with great efficiency and are really nice. I love this little sandwich shop.

This place is awesome. Easy going and great sandwiches. The Dutch crunch is a must have so make sure you don't pass it up. Turkey is sliced thin and veggies have always been fresh and delicious. Highly recommended!

Nothing fancy here, but boy, do they make great sandwiches. I love all the concoctions, and one can spend time here just reading, and salivating, through the sandwich choices. But of course, you have to taste too, right? Well, after reading and salivating, I settled on the Hot "T" - hot turkey, pepper jack cheese, baja and cranberry sauce - on the dutch crunch roll with "everything" except peppers. That dutch crunch roll bread.. wowsers, it's soooo good. Crunchy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. And the garlic sauce spread is a winner. The sandwich by itself filled me up. But if you need more, they have a variety of chips, macaroni salad, potato salad and a list of soups to choose from. They also seem to have a "secret menu" ala In-n-Out. The server behind the counter was sooo nice and cool. He was really helpful and seemed to take great pride in the sandwiches, as he should! He mentioned the "Hang Ten", which I assume is a cousin of the Hang Loose and named all the stuff in it. I can't remember the specific items because there were about 13 of them (maybe I'm exaggerating). Something with pastrami and half an avocado....?? Anyways, I highly recommend this place. All the sandwich combinations sound terrific and I gleefully await the day(s) I return!

I was surprisingly impressed by this place, it was fresh and delicious. Almost as good as Ike's place in San Francisco even thanks to the Dutch crunch bread (which is a must trust me)- it's amazing. We got a salad and a basic turkey sandwich in Dutch crunch. I'm pretty sure you could put anything on that bread and it would taste good though. Totally worth a try!

After Mr. Pickles, you'll never go back to Subway sandwiches. They really spoil you with fresh produce, stacked cheese, and out-of-the-oven fresh bread. Opt for the Dutch Crunch, and you'll thank me. I love savoring every nook and cranny on that bread. I've never had a bad experience and the staff love being friendly to everyone. I have to say, though, that the location is really annoying to park and drive around in. It's always congested every time I've been. But, their giant delicious sandwiches make up for it! It's definitely a popular joint, but their staff is so fast that I've never had more than a 3 min wait. Their sandwiches come with a free cookie! What else could you ask for?

I love a good sandwich and this place is good. Prices could be better however I'm sure I'll return one day. I agree with other yelpers that the customer service isn't that great. Also, the Dutch crunch bread cut the roof of my mouth and it hurt for about 3 days but it was good. I think I will go with the sweet bread next time.

I ate here today for lunch with my husband, it was my first time here and we had great service. I had a veggie sandwich with "everything" on it on sourdough bread. All veggies were fresh and delicious. The only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because their sourdough bread was a little hard for my liking. Kind of hard to bite through in some areas, but other than that, it was delicious!!!!

3 stars is A-OK and I would return HINT: Order online for to-go orders as the place is small and cramped for waiting HINT 2: Parking sux, the bowling alley is probably your only option. . I searched on Yelp and found this, went today and followed the ravings of Yelper's about Mr. Pickle's signature sandwich making sure I ordered it on the Dutch Crunch roll. Total was $11.12 for Sandwich, chips & soda. First bite and the bread was very coarse, especially on the roof of my mouth. Two more bites and I was tearfully regretting not ordering the Sourdough. Perhaps an off day. I had also ordered everything on it and regretted the overpowering garlic sauce. While I love garlic as a food group, the quantity of this sauce that was on my sandwich would not allow any other flavors to permeate. - Bite into bacon and you can feel the crunch and texture, but all you get is garlic flavor, - Smoosh the big avacado pieces, but all you get is garlic flavor, - Bite into the chunky chicken pieces, but all you get is garlic flavor, Get the idea? Lots of potential, a bit on the pricey side, but needing some fine tuning of the flavors for the orders to make it better.

Friendly staff and delicious sandwiches!!! My only complaint is that it takes my kids and I forever to choose which sandwich we want. I have yet to be sorry with any of my choices and the Dutch bread is amazing!!! I don't think I will ever go to Subway again!! The cookie is a great finish to the meal...even though I am generally stuffed before i get a chance to eat it.

Was in the area car shopping, didnt realize that you work up a total hunger being stressed out at dealerships. Since im not really in the Lake Forest area to often, I decided to Yelp what was around to eat. I remember the awesome Kelley U. telling me that Mr. Pickle's was an good place for sandwiches. Got the directions on how to get here, and i was on my way to finding this place. Located in a small strip center and across from The Hat is were you will find this small sandwich shop. Parking is a-ok being it was a Saturday afternoon. Walking in I was greeted and told someone would be with me soon. There was about 2 other people waiting in line. No biggie, since i havent been here i'll have more time to look over the menu and deicde what i wanted. After i found the sammie that would make my tummy happy, i had to choose my bread (there are 6 different kinds to choose from OR you could opt to get your sammie as a wrap. Which is what i did, not a huge fan of bread! Finally i was up next to place my order, my sandwich maker apologized for the delay and asked what he could make me. Had The Mr.Pickle-Chicken breast, bacon, avocado, and jack cheese all on a wheat wrap. This sammie was full of all the good stuff, no skimping on anything that was put into this wrap. Prices are okay $7.49 for one sammie, plus a bag of chips (they sell regular and large size Dirty Chips) and an ice tea (only sell cans and bottle beverages).. Total was $11.57. Before my jaw hit the floor at the total, i was offered a fresh, warm chocolate chip cookie for freeeee. Umm, take my money, heck yeah i got a free cookie to sweeten my mood!!!

My wife and I came here for lunch and we were not disappointed. I got the ubiquitous Mr. Pickle sandwich, and it was amazing. Homemade but high quality. The kids working there were friendly and the cookies were pretty good. A little on the pricey side, but well worth it.

Overpriced!! While I coudn't eat any of their meaty specialty sandwiches, they did have a vegetarian one called the Very Vegi. It consists of avocado, cheese, and cucumbers. It'll cost you $7.49! Seriously? Since I couldn't have cheese, I would've been left with just avocado and cucumbers. So not worth it. I went with the build your own sandwich instead. It still cost me $6.99, but at least it had tomatoes, avocado, lettuce, pickles, and cucumbers. I know this sandwich place is not a vegetarian place. I get that. But why even bother putting one on the menu when you're not even going to try to make it appetizing? It's like they realize that there are Vegetarians in this world and want to cater to them too, but somewhere along the line they got really lazy and thought a slice of cheese, some cucumbers, and avocado were gonna be good enough. And hey, let's name this sandwich the "very" vegi! Nothing very about it. I'm being "very" generous with the 2-star rating. Staff was friendly and the sourdough bread was pretty good. Sounds like the owner makes snarky comments on the 1 or 2 star reviews. Bring. It. On.

It was ok - only went because we were hungry, in a rush & in the area. The bread isn't that good, the workers are not friendly. I would give the sandwich a 5 out of 10. Won't be back but if you use your Yelp check-in you get a drink, cookie & sandwich for $7. Not too bad.

Wow - I'm surprised I've held out this long before going to Mr. Pickles, being that it's so close to my office. Wife and I went earlier today (Saturday), and the traffic in and out was steady the whole time. We went directly to the cashier (may have been the manager) to order and I didn't realize that you're actually supposed to order by the door, then they make your sandwiches, then you arrive at the cashier to pay. He took our order and asked what we wanted on the sandwiches - very friendly guy. He didn't tell us we were going about the ordering process wrong, although I wouldn't have been offended of he did. Nice guy, and even brought the food to our table. I got the "Mr. Pickle" sandwich on Dutch Cruch bread. Wife got the "Reggie Reggie" on Dutch Crunch as well. They have the calorie information on the menu board, but don't be mislead - you have to add the calories for the initial sandwich ingredients, plus your bread choice, plus any condiments and veggies you add - not that I'm a big calorie counter. So... sandwiches were great - high quality chicken breat and great ingredients. Mr. Pickles definitely puts Panera and other nearby sandwich places to shame. The Dutch Crunch bread is great and definitly some of the best sandwich bread I've ever had. We both had similar sandwiches and they were huge... like three or four inches thick. The garlic sauce they put on them is really good too. Neither of us could finish our sandwiches - we each ate the first half, then took off the bread for the second half. We will definitely be back. A few cons: 1) Kind of expensive for a weekday lunch - or maybe becuase I'm a cheapskate, but sandwiches are $7.50, plus $1-2 for a drink = around $10 for lunch. Trust me - you don't need chips with the size of these sandwiches. 2) Lack of soda machine, as pointed out by other reviewers - just cans and bottles. 3) Place is pretty small and very popular - best to take your food to go. Plus, the small parking lot is a clusterf*** becuase they share it with Enterprise and Albatros (which is also very popular). At least Mr. Pickles is nice enough to post signs saying not to park in the bowling alley lot becuase they tow. Damn that bowling alley - there are always upwards of 200 open parking spaces at any given time. WTF? Mr. Pickles is a very cool sandwich shop, and the pickle dude - whenever I see him is a very lively and funny character.

The workers were nice but there really isn't anything special about this place. You have the bread, ingredients and microwaves - woopty doo! Food was okay tasting, nothing to rave about. Got the Mr. Pickles Sandwich and the Reuben. Sets you back about $8 each - not worth it.

Amazing sandwich place. I checked our Mr. Pickles in Lake Forest after reading about it in the OC Register. Pros: + The Dutch Crunch bread is incredible. Wonderful soft texture inside and a pleasant and mysterious crunch on top. I don't know how they make this bread. + Very friendly staff. I came in near closing time in the evening and all three servers were very kind and cheerful. + The onions are very finely sliced, giving the flavor without overwhelming the other flavors. + The Garlic sauce is very tasty, blends well with the sandwich flavors, and doesn't overpower. More sandwich places should have this sauce. + The value is very good. I was absolutely stuffed for $7.50. Cons: - Parking is limited at this location and the mini-mall seems a little run down, but I don't fault Mr. Pickles for their landlord's decisions. Overall, definitely worth a try. Both sandwiches I've tried here have been incredible. This is among the top 5 sandwich places among all those I have tried on the planet.

I haven't had a sandwich better than the sandwiches here. I sometimes sit down to eat and hear some people say, "Nah, I'll just go to Subway." All I can do is shake my head cause it's just not the same. I'd try to stay away from the typical lunch time though because there will be a line. On-Line ordering is available, but the promise time is usually pretty exact. I went there at 12:25 with a promise time of 12:35, and it wasn't ready, but by 12:35 it was. My favorite is the Hang Man/Man Loose, basically the Hang Loose with Swiss Cheese on Dutch Crunch. My only disappointment is that they started closing at 5PM.

IOk to whatever jerk manager is working on June 1st around two o'clock. Your rude!! You should specify on your website and here that you only deliver for orders of 50 dollars or more. I happen to be the customer who is a mile away and has a broken pelvis and can't drive, so instead of doing the compassionate thing being that it says you deliver and especially because I'm that close and running me over a sandwich you had crappy customer service and said no. So guess what you just lost a customer and now your getting a crappy rating! To the employee that I spoke too who was willing to do the right thing and would a gotten a huge tip and my outmost gratitude thank you for at least being willing! So manager stop being such an ass and learn to go out of your way for a paying customer jerk!

I'm always skeptical when it comes to chain sandwich shops. Actually, I'm skeptical when it comes to chain anything. Lately, though, I've been on a sandwich kick, hence my visit to Mr. Pickle's to experience the taste of a pair of Double D's in my mouth. And I'm here to say that I would definitely motorboat the shit out of those Double D's again. What I had: - The Double D (duh): pulled pork, bacon strips (&baconstrips&baconstrips), avocado mash, jalapenos, melted cheddar and pepperjack, resting on a crispy dutch crunch roll, slathered in BBQ sauce, and topped with... potato chips? That is indeed funky--and tasty! And yes, it does (somewhat) live up to its name, as I could only devour half of it before I threw in the towel. My only suggestion is to say no to the vegetables, especially the lettuce. Why? Because the only things vegetables accomplish in this sandwich are 1. give you the illusion of health, and 2.make your sandwich soggy and harder to eat. The price isn't THAT bad, though I'm not really a fan of paying $10 for a sandwich. Then again, you can get two meals out of one sandwich, so I guess it can be considered "worth it." Plus, the texture of the dutch crunch roll here is 10x better than that of the dutch crunch rolls baked by the super mega corporations. Oh, and you get a free choco chip cookie with any sandwich purchase. It's not very good, but it's free. I like free.

I love a great sammich. My usual favorite place is Billy's in San Clemente on Del Mar, but I had a client recommend this place which is very close to my work. I decided to give it a try, and I was not only *not* disappointed, I was blown away! This is my absolute new favorite sandwich place. My favorite sandwich is a pastrami Reuben (minus the sauerkraut) as long as the pastrami is very lean. But my client had told me I HAD to try the garlic sauce. What to do? The employee's recommendation? Get the garlic sauce on the pastrami reuben anyway! I sat down in my car and tried a bite. I nearly died. It was SO FREAKING GOOD. The pastrami is the leanest I have ever found, the cheese was amazing, as was the garlic sauce and the 1000 island dressing. I'm in trouble, and will probably gain a lot of weight. So worth it though! Try it, you won't be disappointed!

As a UCI student I have always come to this little plaza in Lake Forest for Albatros. I had always wondered what Mr. Pickles had to offer, but usually turned to Albatros out of habit. UNTIL...2 days ago. I came to Mr. Pickles to try the legendary sandwich: the Double D. It was so delicious that I may or may not have shed a tear while eating. I just have to say, I'm sorry Mr. Pickles for ignoring you and going to the now sub-par restaurant next door. I LOVE MR. PICKLES, AND YOU SHOULD TOO!

do i have to pay extra for "please and thank you"? i have been to Mr Pickles at least 6 times in the last year. The food is always above mediocre, but the service has been going downhill until it hit todays level of worthlessness. first a nice girl made a sandwich for me. she was polite, albeit a bit hard to hear as she asked how i wanted it prepared. BUT, the clown who rung my order up was clearly not interested in me as a customer at all. I think he is part of the owners family and didnt feel like being there. I get to the register and he asks what i was having, I replied a "build your own sandwich" what kind? it struck me that it shouldn't matter as I am the customer, and the girl making my sandwich was right next to him. When i order the sandwich i saw a price next to it. i never noticed options and didn't think i needed to recount my order so he could figure out the price. isnt that his job? he gives me the price for my sandwich and chips as "its $8.13" no please, no "your order comes to $8.13, please" just "it's $8.13" i hand him cash and he hands me change. No Thank you, thanks for coming in or hope to see you again. I am done with Mr Pickles. the mediocre food was OK, the service not worth it

Brother Man comes through again... super yummy sammies and awesome Dutch Crunch bread. We ordered a couple of different sandwiches between the4 of us and I had a wrap (trying to watch some carbs ya know....) but I did have a bite of all of the delicious sandwiches. All of them were awesome... even the wrap. One thing the Hubbs loves is they actually dig some of the "extra" bread out and make a "pocket of goodness" (as he calls it) for the meat, cheese, and, well, other goodness... He thinks that's about the best thing ever. Super friendly and a great little place!

Place was way better than I thought it was going to be. Dutch crunch bread was definitely a winner. i also could not decide so they told me to get a combo of their Mr Pickle and their Reggie Reggie.....called the Mr Reggie. It was real good and theres a chance I'd order the same thing again. Either way I would be back if in the area.

Mr. Pickle's is a little franchise sandwich shop in Lake Forest. I've seen them in SF and all over the place but never tried it until last weekend. This place has got the neighborhood/local business vibe to it - always good. The employees working there are helpful and make the sandwich how you want. So many options, so many varieties of sandwich combinations on their menu! We got the Mr. Pickles sandwich on a dutch crunch roll and it hit the spot. We split the sandwich in half and it's sufficient enough for two girls to share! Plus you get a free cookie with every meal - nice little treat!

The first time I heard of Mr. Pickle's, I thought it was a joke and that the food would be mediocre. Man was I proven way wrong. My roommates brought me here one day because they were in love with the place. They told me that the sandwiches were amazing, so I decided to tag along. When we got to the shop, the first thing I noticed were that the sandwiches were huge! Not only that, but I saw that they were very generous with their toppings. The first sandwich I had there was the Mr. Reggie, which was a combination of Mr Pickle and Mr Reggie. The first bite I took blew me away. The toppings were delicious and went perfectly with the chicken and cheese. Each bite also sounded delicious because of the amazing Dutch bread that they have there. The sandwich was way too much for me; I was only able to finish half. Since that first time, I've had their roast beef (the Fast Eddy) and their pastrami, both of which have still been amazing to me. Their sandwiches may be on the pricier side at around 7-9 dollars for a sandwich, but you definitely get what you pay for. Quality ingredients and generous servings make it worthwhile. Oh and I forgot to mention that you get a free cookie with every sandwich! Definitely worth it. The reason I'm giving this place a five star, aside from their delicious sandwiches is the service. I came in one day for lunch with my coworkers and the servers forgot to make a sandwich for my co-worker. After apologizing, they came out with his sandwich in about a minute and gave all of us BOGO coupons for the trouble they caused us. Overall, excellent sandwiches, excellent service. I'm so glad that I work so close this sandwich joint and will be making plenty of lunch runs in the future.

They make a great fresh sandwich, and they get you in and out very quickly.

This is really a 3.5 star review. This place is great for what it is. Sandwiches are amazingly delicious, although not a lot of healthy options. They are also a bit expensive for what they are. The bread is tasty, although I'm not sure if anyone else has had a problem with their wheat bread being sort of, "chewy"... If you're looking for a place to just let loose and have some awesome sandwiches without being picky, come here and order anything! Great and tasty food. Sauces are okay.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I hate to YELP this place, only because I want to keep it a secret to myself, but that would just be mean. I just went here again today, and the whole time I ate, I was smiling. Not because I was drunk, or lost or any other reason, but simply because my sandwich was AWESOME!! I had the number 7. I made it extra spicy (as everything I eat) One recommendation I would make, is eat it there if you don't have your own work office to eat in. Its a bit messy. How does that commercial go, "If its not all over the place, it doesn't belong in your face" ha! Well, this sandwich will be all up in yo face. Good thing I have my own office, otherwise, it would look like I hadn't eaten in a year! Needless to say, I finished this thing quick. It was too good to stop to breath. You might think its a bit expensive for a sandwich, but you do get what you pay for. Its not a 5 dollar sub, its a 7 dollar piece of heaven. P.s. Get "The Dutch" bread. Its exclusive to them and its very yummy. See you soon Mr. Pickles.

I had the privilege of trying their famous Double D sandwich and then waiting to review AFTER my SECOND VISIT to Mr. Pickles. It's hard to explain these kind of sandwiches without going into so much detail so I'll share what you need to know. It is not a fast food branded sandwich, meaning these sandwiches are definitely more wholesome and with the work put in to it. The cons about these sandwiches is that they lack that overbearing "american run fast food touch" that we are use to from other common sandwich places such as Panera, Corner Bakery, Subway, Togos, and so forth. The other con is that these sandwiches will be a little bit more messy than some, which can also be a PRO feature for others. That leads me now to the pros of Mr. Pickles. It is definitely the kind of sandwich where you say to a good friend, "Hey, make me an awesome sandwich. Not so generic, but harty." That's where this place comes in. I find Mr. Pickles to be both wholesome, made by the hands of people that LIKE and WANT to make sandwiches. More cozy feeling I guess you could say. But like I said earlier, a plus for some, a slight, "Well it is kinda good" for others use to the mainstream sandwich. Overall, THIS PLACE IS NOT MAINSTREAM. IT IS GOOD, WHOLESOME SANDWICHES THAT YOU CAN ENJOY. For me, something about this place does feel good when it comes to eating their sandwiches because you know effort has been put into these sandwiches. I like this place, and I will definitely come and visit again.

I've been here a few times and it's amazing every time. The first time I ordered the rye special. It was mainly filled with sauerkraut and pastrami along with all the other simple amenities in between. The most recent time I had the Double D, it must stand for (D)aaayyuuuum that's (D)elicious. The main ingredients were its pulled pork and chips in the sandwich. My friend and I decided to split the sandwich........and I regret it. I must come back to get a whole along with that home baked complimentary cookie. #yum The customer service was great too! Not only were they helpful but they had character too. A tip for students, come here after four and it's 10% off. Student discounts for the win! Secret Menu tip: The Mr. Reggie, I haven't tried it....yet. Another reason to come back!

After seeing a segment on the news about the Mr. Pickle mascot advertising controversy in Lake Forest, we decided to stop into the sandwich shop and see how the sandwiches were. I have to say we were very glad we stopped in. I had the #13, The Mr. Pickle, and thought it was delicious. It had chicken breast, avocado, bacon and melted Jack. You can choose from 6 types of bread. I chose the Dutch Crunch which tasted like it came from a bakery. It was so good. We also ordered the #18, Got Beef which was roast beef, pastrami and melted Jack which was also tasty. You can also add lettuce, tomato, mustard, mayo, pepperoncinis, onions, garlic sauce and pickle to every sandwich. Each very large sandwich comes with a free cookie also.

Expect to wait in line during lunch hours, but defiantly one of the best sandwich shops around! Yes, the average price is $8 for a smaller portion then subway, but if you want a good sandwich.. Try it! The BLAT and Hang loose with the Dutch bread are bomb!!!! They also give you a free cookie with your order :) People working here are really friendly too!

This has become my favorite deli! The bread is always fresh, they serve high quality meat and the service is consistently friendly. I'd recommend them to everyone!

I tried their Sandwich with the signature bread and wasn't as inpressed as the reviews show. The bread was great but when you pay that much you would think you would get more meat. Probably won't go back. I like The Hat better The Owner has now started berating me so I have lowered the rating to a 1 star for his efforts If he is like this with all his critics he will be out of business

I have driven by this place so many times that today I decided to try it. OMG! Wow. I got the #4 Turkey, Swiss and bacon with everything on a french roll. Best Sandwich ever! They have this garlic spread on the sandwich that is amazing. Their potato salad is excellant! The staff was very polite. I definetely will go back. Simple little shop. Can't wait to try out more on their menu. The music was good while I was in there as well. That's always a plus. If you like a good sandwich, you gotta check this place out. ***Plus you get a free cookie with each order. They are baked daily.**

I was super excited to see a Mr Pickle down here in S CA but this location was weak. Bad service, and the staff was on another planet.......they sucked all around. I give the sandwich itself a solid 4 but due to their lack luster employees and service this place gets a 2. I will not be returning and that's a shame because nobody else has ever even heard of Dutch crunch bread in SoCal. It's only in the Bay Area. : (

  • Adrian A.

Awesome sandwiches. Warm is where it's at! The Dutch bread is delightful - nice crunch, slight sweetness, just good stuff. They usually get more busy at 12:30 than at noon for lunch...so go early. Staff is also friendly and helpful. Parking in the lot is an issue, so use the street instead. The greeting when you arrive and the free chocolate chip cookie with sandwich is a nice treat to leave you feeling welcomed.

Big sandwiches, decent prices. Sure Subway is cheaper and if that's your thing than more power to you, but the quality at this place is much better, especially if you get a hot sandwich. The Dutch crunch bread is the bomb and their chicken sandwiches are so good. It's always busy at lunch so call ahead and pick it up. They always give you a little cookie too as a little bonus.

Okay so I work in the area and saw this place on yelp and decided to try it, and I'm so glad I did! Its honestly one of the best sandwiches I've ever had! They put a lot of love in their food, you can tell. And I'm not gonna lie I'm a subway girl when I want a sub I always go to subway, but I have officially converted to Mr.pickles. yum! Oh and its always a long line during lunch time so I suggest you call ahead

  • James D.

Third time in a row that I went (yesterday) and there was a long line of people waiting for them to make Dutch Crunch bread. You'd think they'd keep the product that sets them apart from the rest...especially when I can see The Hat right across the street through the front windows!! Parking at this location is awful, lot is tiny and there's a very popular Mexican place next door. Very tough to park even when the lot is empty...just a bad design. I'm disabled, handicap parking really sucks, making it twice as bad when I finally get in there and they don't have their signature item. Their hours seem best suited for one of those funky little delis you find in the middle of an industrial tilt-up complexes like skylark circle...open about as often as four day tires/suits. They open late and close EARLY. Capriotti's and Witches have it all over these guys.

First time experienced this in northern California, and was pleasantly surprised when discovered they moved down to Southern California. - Service and quality is always excellent at this hidden gem. - Never ever been disappointed by their quality of ingredients. - Made to order sandwiches - Always satisfied even when compared to the HAT across the street. Tip* Dutch crunch bread is their specialty bread. RECOMMENDED.

Love this place! My favorite sandwich is the Mr. Pickles Sandwich -- with chicken breast. Definitely get the dutch crunch bread, it soo good. I got wheat bread last time and it was still really good, but the dutch crunch bread makes it taste a lot better. I come here all the time, I love it here.

  • Jenna G.

Now, when I said I liked my sandwiches, I wasn't kidding. Mr. Pickles is absolutely fantastic! The staff is wonderful and the sandwiches are melt in your mouth delicious. I recommend the number 13 or the number 8...on the famous dutch crunch bread. Every sandwich comes with a free cookie and the sandwiches are big enough to share, which is great because I don't know how good they would keep in a refridgerator. I will definitely be returning to Mr. Pickles, likely everytime I am down working in this area. Mr. Pickles staff and sandwiches, you are some sort of unearthly gift!!! A++++

Best sandwiches I have had (so far) in lake forest area. Wish i had tried sooner. This will be my new go to for meat filled sandwiches. Try the double d

  • David C.

I have come to this establishment about 5 times. Almost every time, I've seen them throw my ingredients into a microwave. The sandwiches are decent, but this place is nothing to write home about. I can see this being the joint you go to close by to eat lunch during work or after school, but otherwise wouldn't go to.

  • Alex P.

Damn. Who knew that Dutch Crunch bread existed? Apparently my lovely Yelp friend Jennifer L. did. So after reading her review, knowing the foodie that she is, I just had to give it a try. After all, she has never given me a bad recommendation and I know girl loves to eat. Way to look out Jen! I too ordered the Mr. Pickle sandwich. Completely packed full of chicken breast, avocado, jack cheese, and all the fixings, it was a complete sandwich. Sure, for around $8 you would want something substantial, but dang! This thing is definitely gonna fill up even the largest of appetites. All the ingredients are fresh and piled high and simply delicious. All of this in between the delicious Dutch bread, which lends this amazing crunch and mouth feel (why do I feel dirty saying that?) makes this one of the best sandwiches around. My one and only complaint was that they put entirely way too much mustard on the sandwich, almost to the point that it drowned out some of the more subtle flavors. So unless you're a mustard fiend, you might want ask them to take it easy on it. Now my one and only conundrum is that I have to choose between Mr. Pickles and Albatros next door whenever I come to this spot for lunch. Can you say First World Problems? I know...life is so hard.

    (5)
  • Sarah C.

I've been to Albatros for a late night snack a few times over the past couple of months and i've seen the sign for "Mr. Pickle's" everytime. So I wondered heyyy could it be, is this the same Mr. Pickle's as the ones in Norcal. Good news Norcal kids, IT IS! Finally a decent sandwich shop that isn't located in a business district (although a lot of business people tend to this place up around lunch time). Got a Tom Turkey on dutch crunch and the dutch crunch was perfect. It was a pretty simple sandwich with your normal deli fixings like onions, mustard, mayo, pickles, and pepperoncinis. Just the way a sandwich should be!

    (4)
  • Niki R.

I heart Mr Pickles!! It a small place and gets really busy around lunch time, but the wait is very worth it. The workers there are aways a lot of fun and talkative. I always just make my own turkey sandwich. I add some of the garlic spread to mine, i luv garlic, so to me its just a nice taste to add to the sandwich. And you have to get your sandwich on the dutch crunch bread! And the best part is with every sandwich they give you a chocolate chip cookie, baked fresh throughout the day.

  • Danielle F.

My review won't really matter because at the end of the day this place has a cult following. I do wish them success even though I will never be a fan. I don't like the wheat bread, it has a weird chewy consistency. I was hoping for spinach instead of iceberg lettuce which has no nutritional value but they didn't have it. I also do not like any of their sauces especially the teriyaki.

    (2)
  • Catie R.

Pastrami was good. Dutch bread is overrated-should have had it on the marble rye. My friend had the Reuben. He loved it. My husband had the mr pickles. It was ok. He should have had something with pastrami.

  • JP A.

Initially I did not pay much attention to Mr. Pickle's when it first opened because I thought it was just going to be another mediocre sandwich shop next door to Albatros. Speaking of which, because of Albatros and the Pho restaurant, parking can be a challenge around lunchtime. Just a heads up. Anyway, I was in the mood for a sandwich and I was tired of Subway, didn't want to deal with Quizno's (see my review of the Lake Forest Dr. location), and didn't want to drive out to Jersey Mike's and burn a hole in my wallet. So I wanted to find out what the hype was all about... As a first timer I ordered the Mr. Pickle sans the pickles and peperoncinis. Somehow, somewhere this was lost in translation as the person who took my order seemed more interested in chatting it up with her coworker than taking and LISTENING to my order. To be sure, she did acknowledge that I did not want either of those two items. I'm not a pickle person and to make it worse the pickle taste remains even if I discard the slices. I said that I didn't want to burn a hole in my wallet, right? But I did just that. With chips and a Sobe beverage the total came to a little more than $12. $7.49 for the sandwich (ouch), $1.69 for the chips (WTF?), and $2.29 for the Sobe (typical). And as soon as I was done paying, my sandwich just sat there on the counter while the same person who took my order was...chatting with her co-worker and completely ignoring me. My lunchtime isn't that generous and if I'm taking it to go, I'd really like to be on my way. OK, enough about the service and pricing...let's get to the food. These guys really pile it on so the sandwich may become a bit wet. You'll have to make sure that they go easy on the condiments. I wish I could say that the sandwich was really good, if it weren't for the fact I could still taste pickles. To their credit their Dutch bread was delicious. The free cookie wasn't very tasty, but it was free...so I can't really complain there. It's a nice gesture. I really wish I could give Mr. Pickle his five stars. But it's not going to happen when I could have gone to Subway and get the same mediocre service for less (and pay less with a chips and drink bundle). Maybe it will be different next time.

Went to Mr. Pickles in Lake Forest, CA with my wife today for lunch since we were looking for a simple sandwich. We knew the sandwiches were going to be good because this small shop was packed...but well worth the wait. We were treated with much more than a "simple sandwich". Both of us had a delicious, made to order sandwich that were extremely tasty. Little pricey but worth it. We're definitely going to return often....a helluva lot better than the those chain sandwich joints on every corner of the Earth.

  • Mare C.

My husband and I tried this place for the very first time today, and we're so glad we did! Personally, I think the Dutch roll is definitely the way to go for whatever sandwich you get here! It's so incredibly good, and it's what literally made me say (and with my mouth full, sorry mom)"WOW!" :)) I ordered the Italian Stallion and my husband ordered the Got Beef ($7.49 each). Definitely worth it and delicious down to the very last bite! Bonus points for the super friendly staff (and free cookie, lol!). 5-stars...and our new favorite sandwich shop!

  • Mark V.

I've been to this spot numerous of times...from the day they opened. The owner, Mike, is the coolest guy. He seems to always want to be there and make sure every single person is taken care of, and happy when they leave!! Every sandwich I've had (half the menu) has been fresh, crisp (dutch crunch), and delicious! I recommend the Hang Loose on Dutch Crunch!

    (5)
  • Jenny L.

Yay! I got a free cookie! Who doesn't love unexpected perks with their food? The service was great - the guys were very attentive to their customers. The only downfall is the size of the place. It's pretty small, so any number of people can overcrowd it. The line was not organized when I stepped in. That left it up to us to be human and practice courtesy, I suppose. The food quality is amazing; love the dutch crunch roll; soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside with meat that is lean and flavorful. I got the reggie reggie and my buddy got one of the pastrami sandwiches. They wouldn't have been the same without the sauce... Definitely going back for future lunch quests :)

turkey, avocado, cream cheese on freshly baked dutch crunch. go there, have that sammich, and enjoy the excellent customer service. this place needs no more hype. its delicious.

The "Big Jake" was awesome! LOVE the Dutch bread! Sandwich makers were kind, courteous, and friendly. Great small sandwich place. You can add anything to a variety of 20 + sandwiches, including garlic sauce, peperoncinis and onions. This is a 5 star plus!!!

My business partner and I have an office directly across the street. It was his office first, so when I finally moved in, he had already experienced the local food. His guidance has proven indispensable, but he told me to stay away from Mr. Pickles--he had tried it 3-4 times, and it was average, at best. Well? He was right. The food is actually worth 3 stars--it is firmly in the "average" category. Below average sandwich chains are Subway and Jersey Mike's, just so we're all on the same page. I went to New Hampshire once, and they have sandwich shops called "Original Moe's". Now THAT is five star, mouth-water-as-I-write-this fare. THIS is not. I tried the Double D on the Dutch bread, and I had to force myself to eat it all--not because it was too big (it was actually a big size), but because it was flavorless. Why did I give it two stars? Two reasons, actually: The price ($10), and they successfully (to the detriment of my taste buds) made shredded pork and bacon have zero flavor. When you can screw up the tastiest animal that exists, you should get out of the food business, period. This place is not worth driving to. The Dutch bread is good, though.

  • Stephanie S.

This place has notably friendly service, a magical olive oil based garlic sauce, home-baked bread, and a free chocolate chip cookie with every sandwich purchase. Even though it's a little bit of a trek, Mr. Pickles outstanding deli sandwiches make it worth the trip to Lake Forest. Although my usual is the somewhat vanilla turkey with avocado and cheese on Dutch crunch; each specialty sandwich I've tried has been mouthwateringly amazing. If you're lucky, you'll spot the Pickle mascot doing a sidewalk shimmy.

  • Ryan S.

Quality bread and ingredients and a cool staff. I got the No. 12 and it was good but I would probably try something else next time. The bread was fresh and the cookie they give you was fresh out of the oven as well. Will be coming back next time I am in the area.

  • Rick F.

Their sandwiches are great and you get a lot of sandwich for your money. They're always friendly and I like their online ordering system to save time when I don't want to wait in the usually long long lines at lunch on a weekday. For some reason they always get my fiancee's sandwich orders wrong, but I've had good luck. Their chips are tasty too, I usually save those for a snack for later since the sandwiches are so huge. Also you get a free cookie!

  • Chris K.

This is not the best sandwich shop I've ever been to, but it's a pretty damn good one, and their dutch bread has an amazing texture! I ordered the Mr. Pickle, sans pickles, on dutch bread with garlic sauce. The ingredients seemed to be of a higher quality than your average sandwich joint. The tomatoes stood out to me more than anything else, they were large and crisp! They just had a freshness that you don't find too often, in my opinion. I look forward to going back and trying something else. You have to appreciate a place that has a sandwich called "the jeffrey," and gives you a cookie with every sandwich!

  • Philip P.

Subway doesn't compare. Quizno's bacon advantage is also out. Togo's size is negated too. Best (FULL) sandwich place in Orange County, hands down. It's a monstrous sandwich, like dinner status and still have leftovers. The only comparable place is all the way up north (Ike's Place and Little Lucca) and I wanna save my miles for a nice vacation instead. For $7.50 that's practically for two meals/servings, I think the value is fair. It's absolutely LOADED. The recommended sandwich I had was bomb and the workers are very friendly/helpful. Get the dutch bread (so worth it) and they give you a free cookie for every sandwich. Oh, and it's in the same plaza as/right next to Albatro's.. and I bet you never knew about Mr. Pickles because you'd only find yourself in that area when you're drunk as fuck @ 2AM.. you're not alone. Now you have a reason to come here sober and during daylight! Who KNEW!?

    (5)
  • Tim H.

:insert pickle joke: Albatro's will always be #1 in this suburban strip mall, but if you're looking for something to mix it up and something that won't destroy your bowels, Mr. Pickle is "USA A-OK!". Had The Mr. Pickle on the Dutch Crunch bread. Chicken breast, bacon, avocado and cheese. Accoutrements: GARLIC SAUCE! Service was friendly and extremely helpful. Next on my list: The Fast Eddy...

My boyfriend and I went to Mr. Pickle's today. I had the Italian and he had the Golden Gate. Both were good, but pretty big. Maybe next time we'll split a sandwich cause it's ben over an hour and we are both still all stuffered. Parking was not an issue. The two guys working at the store were super helpful. Our food was delicious. Every sandwich order comes with a free cookie. If you say you heard about them on Yelp you get 10% off your order. We will definitely be going back. :)

I am sad that I don't work near Mr. Pickle's anymore. Though i haven't been here in a while, it will always remain one of my favorite sandwich shops. I have tried several different sandwiches here, the "Italian stallion" being one of the best they have. However, I'm a fan of the reuben. They have the BEST reuben i have ever tasted! Their version is pastrami, sauerkraut and swiss cheese piled on the tastiest, most tender marbled rye bread you have ever tasted. One of these with Tabasco flavored kettle chips on the side, I'm in heaven! This may not be the cheapest sandwich shop out there, but the quality you get is so far above and beyond the price you are paying, it doesn't really matter.

Who's Mr. Pickles? While I dont know who he is, I do know that his sandwiches are quite tasty. This place is located in a small strip mall with very little parking. There often is a lunch rush with 3-5 people always in line but their service is pretty fast so you never wait too long. What makes this place stand out from other sandwich joints is the different flavor combinations they put together. I recommend the Hang Loose as it has pastrami, bacon, cream cheese, and avocado... BOMB. The only thing I would say thats a negative is the Dutch Crunch bread. I tried it based on all the hype other Yelpers have said about it but if youre like me who likes their bread toasted but not hard, then try a different bread. The Dutch Crunch bread is soft on the inside but its like biting through a turtle's shell (I'm assuming) to get to the good stuff. Either way, this place should definitely be in your weekday lunch rotation.

  • Tom D.

Went by on a night that they were doing their spring deep-cleaning. Stopped by the next day, and was thrilled with my lunch. The sandwiches at Mr. Pickle's are huge! I've eaten at the ones in Northern Cal, and the quality is duplicated here at the Lake Forest location. Oh, and their deep clean? Looks great! Even the restrooms were dialed in.

Oh dear lord this place is the king of all gut busters. They seem to take pride in the concoctions they serve you and well they should. I have had the Ruben on two occasions and it was too good. Why too good you ask? Cause I couldn't stop eating it when I should have then I spend the following hours hating life. Anyways the ruban is on super soft marble rye with all the usual ruban fixtures, lots and lots and lots of tender flavorful pastrami. Take my advice if you come here split your sandwich whatever it may be cause they give you a butt load of food and if you eat it all people may mistake you for jaba the hut. The dutch crunch bread is really good here too, I had that one on another gut buster that had chicken, bacon, cheese, angel tears and lots of other stuff. I don't remember what it was called perhaps something like "ha ha now you have diabetes." anyways with a name like Dutch crunch I was concerned it would be hard but it's not. Just a perfect crunch on the outside, soft on the inside. I don't really have a complaint aside from my lack of will power when eating there sandwiches. They get super crowded during the lunch hour Monday-Friday so get there early or later or call ahead.

This review pains me a bit to write, I fell in love with Mr. Pickle while I was in college in the bay area. There was one right by my campus off of El Camino in San Mateo and it had to be the home to the best sandwiches ever. The place was always bustling, and was peppy and fun with loud music and lots of extremely nice fun people working there. Despite always having a long line they were efficient and got through the lines in no time. I really can't say enough good things about this shop. I fell in love with the dutch crunch bread and legitimately would crave it. The sandwiches always have layers upon layers of fresh cut meat so that they were bursting with goodness. Which brings me to my experience now. When I first saw a Mr. Pickle pop up in my home town I literally screamed with excitement. I have had many good experiences here at this one, but it is different and I need to get used to that. My sandwiches are no longer bursting. I have had what tasted like dry day old bread a few times, and unlike the friendly customer service I came to love up north I feel like I'm often times greeted by people who would rather be elsewhere. While I cant blame them I know the name Mr Pickle to mean great food and friendly faces and I'm saddened that I'm often sent home with disappointment. I am obsessed with the Big Jake sandwich and often I get home to find toppings I specifically asked to leave out (sorry I hate mustard a lot) which I understand happens, but it hasn't been only once or twice its been consistent. This will never keep me away I just thought I would mention my disappointment as I hope to see this place grow and if anything get better as it was up north. Thank you for growing Mr. Pickle please remember your roots.

Mr. Pickles is a great sandwich shop! They keep things nice and simple. The have all the ingredients you would want in a sandwich, their service is quick and friendly. AND you get a fresh baked cookie with every sandwich order. I agree with the other reviews, their dutch crunch bread is amazing!

I have been working in Laguna Hills for a year now, and I have never eaten here... until TODAY! I got the Big "T" and it was glorious. Melty cheese with warm turkey and spicy mustard. It was great. I love how they state the calories on the menu, and I saved myself 230 calories just cutting out the mayo. I didn't miss the mayo one bit because the sandwich was so good. Not dry at all! Btw, it comes with a free homemade cookie! Mmm.... They don't sell the cookie individually, so when I tried to buy another one, they just gave it to me free. Everyone was very friendly, and they all look like they put care into the sandwich. The service is what makes a good sandwich an exceptional one. This is going into my regular rotation. =)

I enjoy this sandwich shop and I can only wish there were more places like this. My friend, Christyjoy Rivera, once told me that there's cute guys working here, but that kind of information has no effect on me. What does is the environment, the food and the service. Now the environment is a deli, not much to really say other than it's cramped and tight. Better to get it to go, but if you do want to sit down, go outside of the peak lunch hours. If you don't know what those peak lunch hours are, I'm going to assume you don't have a regular 9-5 job. The food is actually pretty good. I expected a regular deli with maybe a generous dose of meat, but it's actually pretty creative. Their dutch bread, the way they add different ingredients to spice up a sandwich, etc. One complaint, though, is it is a bit more pricier than a deli, but the food is delicious. Service is pretty fun. The deli engineers make it fun. I first came here, everyone had a Mario Bros. theme. They make fun suggestions on the sandwiches and riff with you. I enjoyed watching their costumed mascot, a Pickle, dance on street corners suggesting would be consumers to eat at Mr. Pickles. I'm glad I was curious enough to go in and try it out.

So sad what this place has turned into, it's like night and day. The new management is clueless in how to run a business and you can tell as soon as you walk into the place. I used to crave their sandwiches daily and now I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy.

Still ok. I love the energy in here... everyone is really friendly and upbeat.. and the music is good.... I stopped by today to give them another try. I ordered the Tom Turkey, and it was really good, except, it was supposed to come with bacon and upon opening my sandwich back at work, it had no bacon. was the sandwich good? Yes. Was it worth $8?Maybe if it it had bacon :p still giving away free cookies :)

For the freshness of ingredients, enthusiasm and kindness of employees, specific calorie count on the menu board and free cookie at the end of the day, the original 3-star rating in my head just had to be taken up a notch. Ask your sandwich creator which of the breads is newest out of the oven -- mine thankfully was the sweet roll. I would have liked to try the Dutch crunch, but hey, this worked as well. For a hair over $8 with tax, I was expecting just a bit more. But don't get me wrong -- my pastrami was lean and tasty, Swiss cheese gooey and melted, and the slight touch of garlic sauce was divine. Plus, the fresh out of the oven roll was sooooo good. The ingredients themselves were definitely more impressive standing alone than the sum of their parts, especially after doling out the cost. However, I was happy and full, and although I came at a weird hour so it was essentially just me in the shop, I felt my experience was a very positive litmus test for this new place. Note: what's the deal with the signage/advertising/mascot controversy? Sandwich Making Boy kept going on and on about having to take his signs down blah blah blah, but he never explained why... curious.

Friendly staff and a damn good sandwich makes me drive out of my way to go there. A hot Italian Stallion on dutch crunch bread with everything on it is near perfection. Plenty of great quality meat is stacked up on this sandwich and the flavors are outstanding. I also tried the pulled pork as well and it didn't disappoint. I notice a reviewer bombed the place because she was a vegetarian and said the sandwich was weak with minimal on it, I would suggest trying a place that focuses on veggie sandwiches if thats really what your going for. This place is a meat lovers dream of a sandwich shop. Glad I found this place.

Get the Mr. Pickle on Dutch bread. The bread is amazing.

Great sandwich place! It's right next to work, so I go there on my lunch break sometimes. Mr. Pickle's is next door to Albatros and Forest Lanes. During lunch time, it gets a little crowded because they can only make so many sandwiches at a time. You can call ahead and make an order so that they have it ready for you. I love their Mr. Pickles sandwich, which comes with Bacon, Chicken and Avocados. I like to get it with the Dutch bread and everything on it. "Everything" includes tomatoes, lettuce, mayo, mustard, garlic sauce, peppercinis, pickles. (I might be missing something, but pretty much all the standard sandwich making material). They have specials every month, and their special for August is really good too! I forget everything that's in it, but I know it comes with bacon, pulled pork, bbq sauce, avocado and other stuff. As you can tell, they put a lot of stuff in their sandwiches (which is why I can't remember all of the ingredients in the sandwiches!) They can always make the sandwich even if the month's special has passed. The person making it just has to remember what's in it. Anywhooo, long story short, get the Dutch bread... otherwise you'll regret it haha. Their sandwiches also come with a chocolate chip cookie! So good!

Well worth the wait! Fresh bread with a look to it you will not find anywhere else! Had their Pastrami Reuben sandwhich w/ avacado that melted in your mouth...especially with the spread they used. It was definitely perfect COMFORT food. However, their Turkey sandwich was light, airy, and refreshing! So I had the best of both worlds! Everyone definitely needs to come here and check it out! So much variety and great service. FYI - Their cookies are also a perfect ending to the meal :) ENJOY!!!

I looooove Mr. Pickle's! I had a local shop up north a few years ago and sorely missed it when I moved to OC. Now that this one is open in Lake Forest, I'm a very frequent customer (At least 1-2 times a week. They know me by name, and I know most of their names too). Specialty sandwiches are $7.49, but they're REALLY huge and come with a cookie! I usually only eat half and save the rest for dinner or breakfast the next day. On the rare occasion that I stuff myself with the whole thing, I regret it for two reasons: There is such a thing as too full, and then I don't have leftovers :D My favorites are: The Mr. Pickle : Hot chicken, jack cheese, avocado and bacon L'Michelle: Hot chicken, jack cheese, cranberry sauce The HOT "T": Hot Turkey, pepperjack, baja sauce and cranberry sauce Mr. Reggie (Not listed on the menu): hot chicken, pepperjack, bacon, avocado and baja sauce (I think. It's been a while since I've ordered it) ooooooooh, and the lemonade is incredible. I love the raspberry flavored one! PS: I think being good-looking is a job requirement at this location. All the guys are really cute :) PPS: They don't cheer when you tip them anymore :( I miss that.

The people here are definitely groovin to the music that they are playing at the time and I think that's pretty entertaining. It goes from funky to somehow feeling like you're in a hollister store or A&F. This is kind of a reflection of the sandwiches that they make. Fun. It's pretty delicious but it's quite pricey here. I had the basic specialty sandwich, the Golden Gate on the dutch crunch bread. Pretty decent but decent cost me 8 bucks but at least I got a cookie out of it. Tough to go up against Subway in my opinion.

I've eaten many sandwiches in my time and tried many specialty sandwich shops. I must say that Mr. Pickles is very affordable, tasty and convenient. Last time I exited the 5-S on Lake Forest, I kid you not, there was a dancing pickle at the freeway exit. There was a person, dressed in a lifesize pickle costume. That caught my eye and made my day. Today, I passed by the sandwich shop and decided to stop by. I had heard some good reviews and wanted to try it for myself. Definitely try it for yourself. The speciality sandwiches are terrific, but you can build your own as well. I had the roast beef with cheese. I usually prefer hot sandwiches and Mr. Pickles has quite a few of those. Every order even comes with a fresh chocolate chip cookie---which by the way, was so perfectly chewy. The price can't be beat. For about $7.50 you get a sandwich about 8" long, but it seems bigger than a Subway footlong. There is much more meat and other ingredients inside. I would pick Mr. Pickles over Subway, TOGOs or Quizno's any day for sure!

I heard legends of Mr. Pickles, saw the mysterious pickle-man on the corner of Lake Forest dancing people in, but I still wasn't sure. It wasn't until this week when I had a craving for a sandwich that I stopped into the shop. The people are super friendly, and gave good recommendations. Now, I dream that every sandwich is made with their dutch crunch bread and I want their garlic sauce on everything. It's super-yummy, and I will definitely return, as it's right down the street from my office. I had to deduct a star, though, because they only offered one vegetarian option. They have tuna, but I would love to see an egg salad option there. Perhaps they can come up with some other ideas... I mean, they are the geniuses behind the awesome dutch crunch bread. If they can do that, they can do anything.

Straigh forward, hearty, good sandwiches. A substantial amount of meat. Prices aren't dirt cheap; but theyre not bad. Try the Dutch Crunch bread. Turkey is fantastic (how can this be 310 calories...is this for just 1/2 ?...IDK). Reubens are great!!! House Special. Chicken Breast, Hot T, Italian Stallian.... I can't decide anymore, they're all good. And you always get a fresh little chocolate chip cookie with every order.

YUMMMM!!!! Best sandwich hands down. MY NEW CRAVING! I love deli sandwiches and there's nothing better than Mr. Pickles. My sister showed me Mr. Pickles, and I've probably told the world about it by now. Never a bad experience and it's always consistant. My favorite? The Big Jake...added cheddar cheese (baja sauce and garlic sauce is a must!). Although, it's a little expensive, it's worth every penny!

Mr. Pickles on Rockfield rocks! My gentleman and I were in the mood for sandwiches recently, and decided to stop by and check it out--great decision! The shop is small but clean and the staff is really welcoming and friendly. It took us a few minutes to decide what we wanted because everything on the menu looks so darn good! I choose the "Mr. Pickle" (chicken breast, avocado, melted jack cheese, bacon) and he choose the "L'Michele" (chicken breast, melted jack, and cranberry sauce). Since they brought out freshly baked Dutch bread, we just had to have it! I was pleasantly surprised to see that many sandwiches (including the one I ordered) were in the 500-700 calorie range for being so large (and probably less if you leave off mayo and cheese). We took our sandwiches to go, and were each offered the free cookie with purchase, but we declined because we gave up sweets for Lent. Oh man, these sandwiches were GOOOO-OOOOD! I was full with just half, but I admit I kept on eating because it was just so tasty. The prices are reasonable, too--about $16 for two big sandwiches. You could easily eat just half and save the other half for later or even share with someone. I'll definitely come back to my local Mr. Pickles (and btw, I was mad when they made the dancing pickle get off the street corner. I enjoyed seeing him on my way to work.) :)

The sandwiches are great (especially the breads); but the prices are quite high and the service is very lukewarm. I got a sandwich, chips, and 2 drinks (plus a couple of small cookies that came with the meal) and the price was around $14. The girl in tights working the counter seemed annoyed that my son and I were there.

Mr Pickles came to Irvine and being a resident Irvine Company tenant a new restaurant definitely needs an honest review. Parking in the complex is horrible (TIP: park on the street or park in the bowling alley lot since it is just a hop away from the pickle). Atmosphere: To sum it up...a bunch of loud, outspoken, young bucks making your sandwich. On occasion you get some trance bumping in the place and you are either going to love it or hate it. Overall they are friendly and lighten up the mood of your average sandwich shop. You are going to either be annoyed or enjoy the extra attention. Service: So there really isn't a line at Mr Pickles, it is unorganized and will turn off some customers. The upside is there is a bunch of workers ready to take your order and in the end I guess that is all that matters. They make it the way you want it and customer service is excellent...for now. They also give you a free chocolate chip cookie with your meal which is rare in the sandwich business. Food: It gets complicated when you are dealing with sandwiches since most of the time there is a huge selection and most people always stick with what they know and have a particular taste. Stick with the deli meats and chicken. Do not get pastrami or roast beef...the HAT is across the street! Some of the bread rolls are tough and can be hard to eat. The only bread I like there is the dutch crunch, and you will have a bleeding palate after one sandwich...but well worth the trouble. Toppings are decent and fulfilling if you get everything, but very small if you decide to choose only certain items. Mr Pickles needs to get a set toppings option like Jersey Mikes, "Mike's way". It will make it easier on the workers and the customers. Overall: Go if you want something different from Subway or the other local sandwich shops with your common sandwiches then Mr Pickles is somewhere you want to drop by. Nothing you are going to dream about with your mouth watering. Pick one sandwich you would crave, stick with it, and put it on your menu calendar for the month and don't forget your stamp card for that FREE sandwich.

Went today and got the Hot T sandwich with Dutch Crunch bread. I didn't think the place was worth returning so much. Not sure where they get their bread from, but my bread was very dry. It seemed like it had been frozen. I actually came for the Dutch Crunch bread and since the bread tasted older it basically ruined my experience. The sandwich itself probably could have been better. I barely tasted any garlic nor did I taste the Cranberry sauce. Maybe they can make the sauces more flavorful or add more to the sandwich? Bummer. was really look for a good sandwich place with Dutch Crunch. Makes me crave the San Francisco sandwich shop now!

I had Mr. Pickles back in high school at their original location in San Mateo. They've always had good sandwiches on fresh bread and a large variety of specialty sandwiches. When they opened their Lake Forest location, I was really excited because it is the ONLY place in all of Socal that had dutch crunch bread (at least that I could find), which is by far my favorite sandwich bread. Theirs is even better than I remembered back in the bay, and it's sometimes so fresh it's still warm! I've tried a few of their sandwiches and my favorite is probably the Mr. Pickle -- the avocado makes a big difference. They're also huge and I usually can't finish the whole thing, so if you don't eat a lot you might think about splitting a sandwich with a friend. Each sandwich also comes with a delicious fresh baked chocolate chip cookie. This place can get a bit crowded during lunch but the line moves fairly quickly. When they first opened they were open until 7pm, but sadly they changed their hours to close at 4pm, so I can no longer get their sandwiches for dinner :(. Overall, my favorite normal-American sandwich place in Socal and I would go more often if they were closer and open later. However, I can't quite give them 5 stars because I've definitely had better in the bay.

If sandwiches were people, Mr. Pickle's sandwich would be the quality business woman that your heart has been searching for, while Subway's $5 footlong is the cheap and trashy girl you slept with on a drunken college night. You have the choice to either make your own sandwich ($6) or order a specialty sandwich ($8). Even though it's not on the menu, I highly suggest their Mr. Reggie on Dutch bread, which comes with spicy baja sauce, avocado, chicken breast, and avocado. Delicious. All of their sandwiches are superb (even the most simple ones!), especially since if you get them "everything" style; it comes with FREE delicious garlic sauce, mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato, pickles, peppers, and red onions. They also stuff their sandwiches SO much that they have to scoop out the insides of the bread to fit in all the toppings! I know $8 sounds pricey for a sandwich, but these babies are so BIG that eating half will leave your stomach content. You can really taste the freshness in the ingredients, and even in the free chocolate cookie you get with the sandwich. Incredibly friendly service, huge selection of chips & bottled drinks, and they even support fundraisers! Only con is their very limited business hours. Sandwiches like these should be available 24/7, not just for lunch!

This location just looks so grimy...this first impression takes away from the quality of their food. Sandwiches are good - big, served on freshly baked bread, very satisfying. But their service is soooo slow - there was no one in the restaurant and we waited 10 minutes for our order to be served. Definitely won't be back to this location.

I have to admit, I was turned off at first by the name as I hate pickles... But I gave it a shot as I am a fan of sandwiches. I was impressed. The atmosphere is simple, clean, upbeat, and approachable. There are no gimmicks here aside from the pickle suit, branded uniforms, and friendly staff. The ingredients are fresh and there is a good variety. They have an assortment of breads that taste great. My favorites are the sweet style and the dutch crunch. The meat is perfectly seasoned, it's not overpowered by gimmick spices, yet has a unique flavor. They make a spicy sauce for some of their sandwiches called Baja sauce, it adds a great flavor but doesn't overpower the meat. I'm a fan of tasting the ingredients of my sandwich, not just the sauces. They do a great job of balancing the sauce to meat/veggie ratio. They will make you a sandwich any way you want it, just ask. If you want anything from a classic California style sub to a great Reuben, this is your place. If you want purposefully stale bread, sub par "designer" cheeses, and gimmicks, old meat disguised by unnecessary overpowering spices, head across the street to Panera Bread.

I love this shop. The sandwiches are tasty, the exact calorie count on the menu is a nice touch. Love the free cookie with each sandwich. Grooving music definitely keeps the staff working hard and helps boost the atmosphere of an otherwise typical strip mall location. Never had a bad experience here.

Came here after seeing the giant pickle dancing on the corner of the Lake Forest exit and hearing it was good. Granted it's Labor Day, but this poor guy had a line of 4 and one guy must have been waiting for his sandwich for 15-20 minutes. One guy working at lunch time? No good. Once we were finally served we ordered "for here" and got our sammies in just a few minutes. Pretty delicious overall.... $20+ for two sandwiches, 2 chips and 2 drinks is a little steep but I'd go again :0) the Dutch crunch roll is tres yummy!

I was going to give this 4 stars, but after I thought about it...I really enjoyed my experience at Mr. Pickle, why not give it 5 stars...there was really nothing bad to say. I went with some co-workers who had been before and have raved about it. First of all, the vibe in the place was great. There are guys behind the counter, young, who all seem to like working there and it shows. They joked with us and recommended options on the menu, even special 'unlisted' sandwich creations. It was busy, people coming in and out, that says something. Secondly, the sandwich was great. I'd compare it to a Quiznos, only with more flavor and options. I like their style, I'll definitely be back and tell my friends to go check 'em out.
